With many of us working remotely in cafes, co-working spaces, and more, increased importance is placed on finding the best-suited laptops for both work and leisure. Thankfully, I got the chance to try out the latest LG gram 17 (17Z90Q) and the +view monitor that was recently launched early this year and I have to say this ticks all the boxes. What boxes you might wonder? Well, as someone who loves to work in new environments and spaces, there are a few things to keep in mind: Convenience, Performance, and Usability.
Digital Convenience with LG gram
You might assume that this huge 17-inch laptop will have a substantial weight but contrary to its first impression, it’s surprisingly light and convenient to be brought around. Sitting at a weight of 1.3kg, it’s way lighter than the popular favourite, MacBook Pro 16 which weighs past 2kg. With that being said, carrying this 17-inch with a 16:10 screen around is a piece of cake for many.
If you require a monitor to be productive, fear not as LG also launched the +view 16inch monitor that will allow you to extend your workstation effortlessly. It’s also just 670g. Users can also choose to set it up vertically or horizontally (a windows noob like me could do it so can you) based on their preference.
Combining these two products, they weigh lighter than a MacBook Pro 16. As the saying goes, two is better than one, this just means your productivity is elevated without compromising on convenience.
Powerful Performance with Upgraded Processors
What is being productive if you can’t have fun? So while using the LG Gram, I took the chance to download my Steam account and test its performance with games. Though I do not believe you can replace a gaming laptop with an LG gram, you sure can enjoy most of your games with it. With each new LG gram backed by a 12th Gen Intel Core processor, the latest Gen4 NVMeTM SSD, and a low-voltage LPDDR5 RAM, users like myself can experience a 22% boost in performance. To be fair, while playing Pummel Party with my friends, I didn’t experience any lag and the visual experience was amazing.
Aside from games, the 16:10 aspect ratio allows for an immersive experience for visual content. The thing with immersive visual content is that eyes get tired. With LG’s advanced IPS displays being anti-glare, it makes enjoying your dramas and movies more enjoyable without the need to strain your eyes.
Great for Digital Nomad, Creators and the Youth
Overall, I would highly recommend this set to those who frequent new working spaces and like flexibility with their work and leisure environment. I was able to play my monopoly-like game while writing up my next article. Without sacrificing durability and performance, the LG gram and +view allow users like digital nomads and creators to perform at their best with the support of an ideal workstation. The only caveat I would say is that if you like smaller screens, then maybe the LG gram 17 might not be for you, I would recommend using the LG gram 14 instead.
The new LG gram laptops & +view lineup will be available from the end of May, at LG’s official brand stores on KrisShop, Lazada and Shopee.
