TAG Heuer is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Monza with a new limited-edition chronograph that brings one of the watchmaker’s most distinctive motorsport designs into the modern era. Unveiled ahead of the Formula 1 Pirelli Gran Premio d’Italia 2026 in Monza, the TAG Heuer Monza Flyback Chronograph is limited to just 500 numbered pieces.
The anniversary watch traces its origins to a particularly significant period in TAG Heuer’s motorsport history. Heuer became the Official Timekeeper of Scuderia Ferrari in 1971, becoming the first watchmaker to partner with a Formula 1 team. Four years later, Niki Lauda won the Formula 1 World Championship and delivered Ferrari its first Drivers’ title since 1964. Heuer subsequently introduced the Monza collection in 1976 to commemorate the achievement.

Half a century later, the new edition draws inspiration from the original watch while building on the contemporary Monza Flyback Chronograph introduced in 2023. Rather than attempting a direct recreation, TAG Heuer has combined the Monza’s familiar racing cues with modern materials and chronograph engineering.
The watch is housed in a 42mm forged carbon case, giving the familiar cushion-shaped Monza silhouette a distinctly modern appearance. Forged carbon is valued in contemporary motorsport for combining high strength with low weight, while its irregular marbled texture means the surface pattern of each case is naturally different.

The black dial carries several visual references to the 1976 Monza. Matte black chronograph counters are accompanied by strategically placed red accents, while white lacquered hour and minute hands with white Super-LumiNova improve legibility. The chronograph minute counter sits at 3 o’clock, permanent seconds at 6 o’clock and an angled date window at 9 o’clock. A red central chronograph hand provides another connection to the collection’s historic colour scheme.
Around the dial, TAG Heuer has incorporated both tachymeter and pulsometer scales, reinforcing the functional character traditionally associated with chronographs. The watch is protected by a domed sapphire crystal with double anti-reflective treatment and offers 100 metres of water resistance.

Powering the anniversary edition is TAG Heuer’s COSC-certified Calibre TH20-12, visible through the sapphire crystal caseback. Its defining feature is the flyback chronograph function, which allows the wearer to reset and immediately restart the chronograph with a single press instead of stopping, resetting and restarting it separately. The complication has a natural connection with motorsport, where consecutive intervals may need to be timed quickly.
TAG Heuer completes the racing aesthetic with a black perforated calfskin leather strap with contrasting red stitching, paired with a sandblasted Grade 2 titanium folding clasp finished in black DLC. The caseback is similarly made from black DLC Grade 2 titanium and carries an individual XXX/500 limited-edition engraving.
The TAG Heuer Monza Flyback Chronograph, reference CR5092.FC8372, will be available from September 2026.
Only 500 numbered examples will be produced. Estimated pricing is CHF 12,600 in Switzerland, €13,350 in Europe, £11,300 in the UK, US$13,400 in North America, ¥1,755,000 in Japan and HK$105,100 in Hong Kong.
