Insta360 is marking a decade of 360-camera innovation with the launch of the X6, its new flagship 8K 360 camera and the most ambitious evolution of the X series yet. Designed to be the only camera you need for travel, adventure and everyday shooting, X6 combines 360 capture, AI-powered tracking and traditional action-camera capabilities in one compact package.
“X6 is the camera we always wanted to build. It captures everything around you, in any light, and hands you a finished edit before you even reach for your phone,” said JK Liu, Founder of Insta360.
A New Standard for Image Quality
At the heart of X6 are custom dual Sony 1/1.1-inch square sensors, delivering full 1-inch-equivalent 360 imaging with 33% more sensor area than the previous X5 and roughly four times the light intake per frame. The result is designed to deliver greater detail and cleaner footage across challenging conditions, from low-light scenes to harsh backlighting.

The camera’s new triple AI chip architecture combines an 8-core 3.3GHz 4nm flagship processor with two dedicated imaging chips. Together, they deliver 500% more computing power than X5, a 106% faster clock speed and 35% lower power consumption.
For night shooting, a new low-light mode uses two ambient light sensors to reduce flicker and retain more detail. AdaptiveTone 2.0 independently meters each lens and captures two exposures per frame, helping X6 produce a wider dynamic range.
X6 also becomes the first 360 camera with native in-camera Dolby Vision. Frame-by-frame dynamic metadata adjusts contrast and brightness, while 10-bit colour and support for more than 1.07 billion recordable colours provide richer footage straight from the camera.
One Camera, Three Ways to Shoot
The biggest change may be X6’s versatility. Rather than functioning purely as a 360 camera, it combines three shooting modes in one device: a 360 camera, a subject-tracking gimbal-style camera and a single-lens action camera.

Capture Everything, Frame It Later
With native 8K at 50fps 360-degree recording, X6 lets creators capture the entire scene without worrying about composition in the moment. Later, footage can be reframed from virtually any angle, allowing multiple perspectives from a single recording.
Flat 4K Without the Editing
For creators who want traditional flat footage, InstaFrame 2.0 automatically locks onto and tracks people, pets and objects, producing 4K video without requiring a separate reframing workflow.
The new Foldable Selfie Stick Remote Kit adds joystick controls for gimbal-style shooting, while the POV Head Tracker allows framing to follow the user’s eyeline.
Switch to Action-Cam Mode
When a conventional action-camera perspective is preferred, X6’s single-lens mode can capture video at up to 5K60fps, with an ultra-wide 170-degree field of view at 5K30fps. Slow-motion fans can also record at 4K120fps.

Together, these capabilities allow X6 to replace several pieces of kit, combining the roles of a 360 camera, tracking camera and action camera in one pocket-sized device.
More Than 100 Accessories
The X6 ecosystem spans more than 100 accessories, covering everything from everyday shooting and cycling to motorsports, diving and extended recording sessions. Its magnetic mounting system also remains compatible with existing X5, X4 Air and Ace series mounts.

Highlights include the X6 Power Selfie Stick, which adds up to 180 minutes of runtime, the Foldable Selfie Stick Remote Kit, Bullet Time Selfie Stick 2.0 and Fast Charge Case, which features dual battery and dual SD card slots.
For riders, the dedicated motorcycle setup adds a holographic speed dashboard overlay, automatic looping dashcam mode and automatic licence-plate blurring. Cyclists can overlay ride data from Garmin, Apple Watch and other compatible devices.

Divers can take X6 down to 60 metres using the new Invisible Dive Case Pro, while car users can mount the camera using a 1/4-inch adapter or Electric Suction Cup Mount for dynamic driving footage.
Flagship Hardware in a Compact Body
Despite its compact size, X6 packs a substantial hardware upgrade. Its 2.32-inch OLED display reaches up to 1,200 nits and remains always-on, while Full Screen Press makes controls easier to operate while wearing gloves.

A new 2,600mAh Xtreme Battery provides up to 140 minutes of 8K30fps 360 recording, representing a 51% increase over X5. It can charge from empty to 80% in just 24 minutes and continues operating in temperatures as low as -20°C.
Insta360’s patented Star-Ridge cooling system is also 10% more efficient than competing 360 cameras, helping maintain stable temperatures during extended 8K recording.

The camera’s Replaceable Lens 2.0 is five times more scratch-resistant than the previous generation and 60% cheaper to replace. X6 is also IP68 waterproof to 20 metres without a case and up to 60 metres with the Invisible Dive Case Pro.
Storage is built in too, with 47GB of usable space from its 64GB internal storage, allowing users to start shooting without immediately installing a memory card.
Audio Designed for the Outdoors
X6 features a four-microphone 360-degree omnidirectional windproof array, along with a dedicated Hidden Engine Mic designed for motorcycle riders.

The system can reduce wind noise while preserving engine sound, and Intelligent Audio Mode automatically adjusts to the surrounding environment.
For creators who need professional wireless audio, X6 can connect directly to two Insta360 Mic Air or Mic Pro transmitters simultaneously.
Smooth Footage and Faster Transfers
Insta360’s FlowState Stabilisation and 360 Horizon Lock keep footage smooth and level even when the camera is moving rapidly.

Connectivity also receives an upgrade, with NFC touch-to-connect, Wi-Fi 6.0 wireless transfers at up to 100MB/s and USB 3.0 wired transfers reaching 450MB/s.

Improved Bluetooth connectivity pairs in around five seconds and can reconnect in less than one second.
Ready for Professional Workflows
For more advanced creators, X6 supports I-Log, preserving greater dynamic range across highlights and shadows for more flexibility during post-production.

Combined with 10-bit recording and more than 1.07 billion recordable colours, the camera provides plenty of latitude for professional colour grading. Insta360 Studio remains available for free on Mac and Windows, supporting 360 editing, stitching, multi-clip workflows and export.
AI That Edits While You Charge
One of X6’s most intriguing features is its ability to create a finished video without requiring the user to manually edit the footage.

The technology behind this is Insta360 PanoMind, an in-house AI model trained on more than 10,000 hours of footage across over 30 scenarios, including travel, daily life, winter sports, motorcycling, diving and cycling.
Unlike conventional AI systems that analyse flat video frames, PanoMind is designed specifically to understand a complete spherical 360-degree scene.

When X6 is plugged in to charge, AI Director can automatically analyse footage stored on the camera and generate a highlight edit, delivering finished clips to the Insta360 app. Processing takes place on the camera rather than in the cloud, and the feature can be disabled at any time.
For creators who want more control, Auto Edit 2.0 can transform one or multiple clips into a complete edit with automatically selected framing, camera movements, cuts, music and transitions.
Cloud Backup Meets AI Editing
X6 also works with Insta360+ Cloud Service, which provides up to 2TB of storage and can automatically back up selected footage while the camera is charging. Users remain in control of what gets uploaded, while shared content can be viewed through links in full 360-degree format.

Cloud footage can also be used with Moments Pro, Insta360’s cloud-based editing tool built with Google Gemini. Instead of manually assembling a video, users can describe the subject, mood, style and timeframe they want, allowing the AI to generate a video around those instructions.

The two AI systems serve different purposes: AI Director creates an edit automatically on the camera, while Moments Pro gives users more creative direction through prompts.
