Sony Showcases Next-Generation Media Production Ecosystem at IBC 2025

At IBC 2025, Sony will present an expansive showcase that unites cutting-edge hardware and software solutions into a powerful, connected ecosystem for modern content creators. From camcorders, studio cameras, monitors, switchers, and storage to breakthroughs in Cloud, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and IP technologies, Sony’s exhibit demonstrates how innovation can streamline production workflows across news, live broadcasting, and filmmaking.

Advancing Spatial and Virtual Production

Sony continues to pioneer the future of Spatial Content and Virtual Production, unveiling creative tools that enhance both production quality and workflow efficiency. Visitors can experience:

● The flagship VENICE 2 digital cinema camera paired with the OCELLUS camera tracking system.

● Sony’s latest Crystal LED displays CAPRI and VERONA, designed for high-fidelity virtual production imagery.

● The Virtual Production Tool Set Ver3.0, arriving from December 2025, which simplifies complex tasks such as match-move work by leveraging OCELLUS trajectory data.

New features in Ver3.0 – provided as a free update – include Viewing Angle colour correction, Ray Tracing Acceleration, and enhanced Colour Calibrator tools such as calibration for third-party cameras and LUT creation for 2D plates. Together, they significantly improve realism and efficiency in VP environments.

Expanded Creative Camera Workflows
Sony’s Cinema Line cameras are receiving major updates to broaden creative possibilities:

● FX3 and FX30 will now support recording in Blackmagic RAW via HDMI when paired with Blackmagic’s Video Assist devices.

● The FR7 will gain support for OpenTrackIO, SMPTE’s open-source protocol for virtual production, in a February 2026 update. This ensures standardised high-precision lens data output, smoother integration with third-party tools, and greater compatibility with CG engines.

These updates strengthen interoperability, giving creators more freedom to adopt hybrid workflows across multiple platforms and tools.

New Integrations for Post-Production and 3D Content

Sony’s ecosystem extends beyond the camera, with new partnerships and tools enhancing post-production and real-time 3D monitoring.

● nablet X-OCN Media Extension plug-in for macOS (Sequoia 15.6 or later) allows X-OCN footage from VENICE 2 and BURANO to be seamlessly integrated into Apple’s Final Cut Pro workflows.

● A demonstration at IBC 2025 will showcase the VENICE Extension System Mini paired with the Spatial Reality Display (ELF-SR2). This setup enables glass-less, real-time 3D monitoring, ensuring immediate and accurate depth checking on set – an innovation that boosts both visual fidelity and production efficiency.

By integrating sustainable materials into its exhibit, Sony not only showcases its latest technology but also demonstrates how innovation and environmental responsibility can go hand in hand.
