Samsung has unveiled its 2027 Odyssey gaming monitor lineup, introducing four new displays that push in different directions — from enormous curved OLED screens to an eye-catching 1,100Hz refresh rate designed for competitive gaming. Revealed at Gamescom 2026 in Cologne, Germany, the range consists of the Odyssey OLED G9, OLED G8, OLED G7 and Odyssey G6.
At the top of the ultra-wide range is the 49-inch Odyssey OLED G9 (G95SJ), which Samsung describes as the world’s first 49-inch Dual QHD gaming monitor with a 360Hz refresh rate. Its 5120 x 1440 resolution provides an expansive field of view, while a 0.03ms GtG response time is aimed at keeping fast-moving gameplay sharp. Players can also switch from DQHD at 360Hz to Dual HD resolution at up to 720Hz when outright speed matters more than resolution.
The OLED G9 uses Samsung’s fifth-generation QD-OLED panel with Penta Tandem technology, featuring a five-layer structure that Samsung says is up to 1.3 times more efficient and offers up to twice the lifespan of the previous generation. An RGB Stripe sub-pixel arrangement is intended to improve text clarity and reduce colour fringing, while peak brightness reaches up to 1,300 nits under specified conditions.
For gamers who want 4K resolution in a more conventional format, the 32-inch Odyssey OLED G8 (G80SJ) combines a UHD QD-OLED panel with a maximum 360Hz refresh rate. Its Triple Mode system allows players to choose between 4K at 360Hz, QHD at 520Hz or Full HD at 680Hz, giving them the option of prioritising image quality or speed depending on the game they are playing.
The OLED G8 also features Samsung Glare Free technology, which uses a film that is claimed to be 54% less glossy than conventional anti-reflection film. Other specifications include a 0.03ms GtG response time, VESA DisplayHDR TrueBlack 600, AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and planned NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible support. Connectivity includes DisplayPort 2.1 UHBR20, two HDMI ports, USB-C with 98W Power Delivery, a two-port USB hub and KVM functionality.
Samsung is also introducing a considerably larger option with the Odyssey OLED G7 (G75SJ). The company calls it the world’s first 42-inch 16:9 curved OLED gaming monitor, combining 4K OLED resolution with a 1000R curvature, 165Hz refresh rate and 0.03ms GtG response time. Its screen area is approximately 72% larger than Samsung’s previous 32-inch Odyssey model.
The G7’s 1000R curve brings the edges of its large display closer to the player’s line of sight, making it particularly suited to cinematic RPGs and open-world games where immersion takes priority over extreme refresh rates. Glare Free technology is also included to reduce reflections when playing in brighter environments.
The most attention-grabbing model, however, may be the 27-inch Odyssey G6 (G60H). Samsung describes it as the world’s first 1,100Hz gaming monitor, targeting FPS and competitive players who prioritise motion clarity and responsiveness. The final specification increases the refresh rate to as much as 1,100Hz at HD resolution, while Dual Mode allows the monitor to operate at up to 600Hz in QHD. It uses a Fast IPS panel with a 1ms response time, giving players a choice between sharper resolution and extreme refresh rates.
Beyond hardware, Samsung is expanding the ecosystem around its gaming displays. The company highlighted its HDR10+ GAMING partnership with Activision Blizzard, with the technology being incorporated into the development process for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. Samsung plans to expand HDR10+ GAMING support to more than 20 AAA titles by the first half of 2027.
Samsung is also growing support for Odyssey 3D, working directly with game studios to bring additional titles to the platform. Cyberpunk 2077 and Cronos: The New Dawn were among the games demonstrated at Gamescom, showing how the technology can add greater depth and spatial perspective to supported games.
The new range represents Samsung’s attempt to serve very different types of PC gamers rather than relying on a single flagship specification. The OLED G9 prioritises an enormous ultra-wide canvas, the G8 balances 4K resolution with extreme speed, the G7 targets big-screen immersion, and the G6 takes refresh rates into four-digit territory.
The Odyssey G6 is scheduled for global availability in the second half of 2026, while availability for the broader 2027 Odyssey lineup will vary by market. Samsung has yet to announce final launch dates and pricing for the new models.
