Canon Unveils EOS R6 V with Game-Changing L-Series Power Zoom Lens

Canon has introduced a new content-creation pairing featuring the EOS R6 V full-frame camera alongside the RF20-50mm f/4L IS USM PZ, its first professional L-series lens with a built-in power zoom. Designed with today’s creators in mind, this combination brings together advanced imaging performance and video-first functionality in a compact, travel-ready setup.

The EOS R6 V carries over the powerful stills and video capabilities of the EOS R6 Mark III but refines the body for content creation. Notable upgrades include a built-in cooling fan for extended recording sessions and a vertical tripod socket tailored for social-first shooting. At its core is a full-frame CMOS sensor delivering up to 32.5 megapixels and supporting 7K Open Gate recording, enabling creators to capture the full field of view and reframe content freely across formats.

Paired with it, the RF20-50mm f/4L IS USM PZ offers a highly versatile zoom range, covering wide-angle environmental shots to tighter framing for interviews or vlogs. Its integrated Power Zoom ensures smooth, cinematic transitions, while the constant f/4 aperture maintains consistent exposure throughout.

Despite its compact build, the lens doesn’t compromise on performance, making it ideal for creators on the move.

According to Too Kok Yong, Head of Singapore Operations Group at Canon Singapore, this launch represents a key step in supporting the country’s growing creator community. By combining professional-grade imaging with practical, real-world features, Canon aims to equip both seasoned creators and newcomers with a complete storytelling toolkit.

One Take, Multiple Formats
The EOS R6 V’s standout feature is its 7K Open Gate RAW/MP4 recording, which utilises the entire sensor area. This gives creators greater flexibility when converting horizontal footage into vertical formats without sacrificing composition. The built-in cooling fan also enables significantly longer recording times, up to three times longer than the EOS R6 Mark III, making it well-suited for interviews, events, and long-form shoots.

Designed for vertical-first workflows, the camera includes a dedicated vertical tripod mount and an interface that automatically reorients based on shooting orientation. Its streamlined body design also integrates easily with rigs and accessories, ensuring a clean and efficient setup.

Smooth, Dynamic Video Capture
Both the EOS R6 V and RF20-50mm f/4L IS USM PZ are built for mobility. Their lightweight design, combined with advanced stabilisation systems, allows for steady handheld shooting or seamless use with gimbals. The camera’s five-axis In-Body IS works alongside Digital Movie IS and the lens’s Optical IS, while Subject Tracking IS ensures stabilisation adapts dynamically to moving subjects.

The lens’s 20mm wide end is perfect for immersive establishing shots, while the 50mm end (with a minimum focusing distance of 0.24m) handles close-ups with a natural perspective. Users can control zoom via the lens ring or the camera’s zoom lever, with adjustable speeds across 15 levels for both fast and slow transitions. A dedicated switch allows seamless toggling between power zoom and manual operation, and the internal zoom design means no rebalancing is needed during use.

Strong Stills Performance
Switching to stills mode, the EOS R6 V mirrors the performance of Canon’s high-end models, delivering detailed 32.5MP images with excellent dynamic range. The sensor provides ample flexibility for cropping or producing high-resolution prints, while the lens’s advanced optics minimise distortion, chromatic aberration, flare, and ghosting.

The camera also supports up to 40fps continuous shooting with its electronic shutter, paired with advanced autofocus capabilities. Its stabilisation system delivers up to 7.5 stops of correction, while the lens can achieve up to 8 stops when paired with compatible EOS R bodies—ensuring sharp results even in challenging conditions.

Built for Solo Creators
For self-shooting, the EOS R6 V includes a front-facing record button and tally lamp, making it easy to monitor recording status. The lens’s zoom ring is also accessible from the front, simplifying solo operation. Remote control is supported via the Camera Connect app, or through the new Wireless Remote Control BR-E2, which offers expanded functionality including a dedicated video button and customizable controls.

The BR-E2 is bundled with the Tripod Grip HG-200TBR, a versatile accessory that doubles as a handheld grip, desktop tripod, and selfie sticker, making it perfect for creators who need flexibility in their setup.

A Complete Creative Toolkit
The EOS R6 V supports advanced filmmaking features such as Canon Log 2/3, Custom Picture profiles, custom LUTs, waveform monitoring, and 4-channel audio recording. A full-size HDMI Type-A port ensures compatibility with professional workflows, while creative tools like Colour Filters and Slow & Fast Motion modes give users more control over their visual style.

Meanwhile, the RF20-50mm f/4L IS USM PZ packs high-end optical performance into a compact body measuring just 98.4mm and weighing approximately 420g. Its dust- and drip-resistant construction ensures durability across different shooting environments, making it a reliable companion for both indoor and outdoor production.
