Hasselblad has officially launched Phocus Mobile for Android, bringing its professional mobile imaging workflow to Android users for the first time. Designed as the companion app for the X2D II 100C, X2D 100C and 907X & CFV 100C, the long-awaited release allows photographers to review, edit, organise and export their images directly from compatible Android devices without needing to return to a desktop.
The arrival of Phocus Mobile on Android marks a significant expansion of Hasselblad’s ecosystem, giving photographers greater flexibility to continue editing and managing their work while on location or travelling. The app combines the company’s renowned Hasselblad Natural Colour Solution (HNCS) with AI-powered image processing, comprehensive editing tools and streamlined photo management in a single mobile workflow.
At the heart of the experience is Hasselblad’s Natural Colour Solution (HNCS), which preserves the brand’s signature colour science from image capture through to final export. The app maintains realistic colours, smooth tonal transitions and rich highlight detail throughout the editing process, ensuring images retain the distinctive Hasselblad look even when processed entirely on a mobile device.
Photographers using the X2D II 100C on compatible HDR-enabled Android devices can also take advantage of the camera’s HDR capabilities. The app supports HDR image preview, editing and export, allowing users to fine-tune highlight detail while preserving shadow information and natural colour gradations. HDR images can be exported as Ultra HDR JPG, while RAW files from supported cameras can be exported as either Ultra HDR JPG or HDR TIFF, providing greater flexibility for different workflows.
One of the standout additions is Hasselblad Natural Noise Reduction (HNNR), an AI-powered RAW noise reduction system designed specifically for medium format photography. Optimised using hundreds of thousands of Hasselblad images, HNNR reduces image noise while preserving fine textures and detail, producing cleaner results when shooting in low-light conditions or at high ISO settings. Processing a 100MP RAW image takes approximately 15 to 20 seconds.
Users can choose between two processing modes depending on the image. Purity Mode prioritises maximum noise reduction for the cleanest possible output, while Detail Mode retains more luminance information to preserve fine textures and subtle image detail. Working alongside HNCS, both modes maintain the accurate colours and tonal smoothness that Hasselblad cameras are known for. The feature is particularly valuable for owners of the 907X & CFV 100C, which lack in-body image stabilisation, making handheld low-light photography more practical.
Beyond image quality enhancements, Phocus Mobile offers a comprehensive suite of editing tools typically found in desktop software. Users can adjust exposure, curves, white balance, monochrome settings, lens corrections, sharpening and noise reduction, while also performing cropping, rotation and keystone correction directly on their Android devices. Batch editing is also supported, allowing settings to be copied and applied across multiple images to speed up post-processing workflows.
Managing large photo collections is equally straightforward. Images can be transferred wirelessly via Wi-Fi or, on supported cameras, through a wired USB-C connection for faster imports. Once transferred, photographers can organise their work using star ratings and favourites before exporting files in JPG, TIFF, HEIF or 3FR RAW formats.
Phocus Mobile for Android supports devices running Android 12 or later with at least 12GB of RAM, while Hasselblad recommends Android 16 devices powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processors or newer for the best editing performance. Some advanced features, including HDR editing and Hasselblad Natural Noise Reduction, require compatible hardware.
