LG Launches UltraGear evo™: The Next Era of Premium 5K Gaming Displays

LG Electronics (LG) has officially introduced UltraGear evo™, its new premium gaming monitor. Building on LG’s established leadership in 5K and 5K2K gaming displays, UltraGear evo pushes high-resolution gaming further with a lineup of 5K-and-above monitors, spanning OLED, New MiniLED, and ultra-wide formats. The brand’s debut collection includes three flagship models: 39GX950B, 27GM950B, and 52G930B, all designed to deliver unparalleled clarity, speed, and immersion.

At the core of UltraGear evo is LG’s commitment to uncompromised image quality, powered by a newly introduced on-device AI solution. This technology enables the world’s first 5K AI Upscaling, delivering 5K-class clarity without requiring GPU upgrades. Gamers can now enjoy higher-definition visuals across a wider range of content, even when original resolutions fall short.

39-Inch 5K2K OLED Gaming Monitor with AI Upscaling
The UltraGear evo 39-inch GX9 (39GX950B) continues the legacy of LG’s GX9 series, offering a 39-inch 5K2K OLED display designed for premium visuals and immersive gameplay. With LG’s new on-device AI, the monitor analyses and enhances content in real time, producing stunning 5K-class clarity without the need for GPU upgrades. It also includes AI Scene Optimisation and AI Sound to improve image and audio quality, creating a more immersive experience.

This model features Primary RGB Tandem OLED technology for improved brightness, colour accuracy, and panel longevity, while delivering true blacks and lifelike colours. The Dual Mode feature lets users switch between 165Hz at 5K2K and 330Hz at WFHD, supported by an ultra-fast 0.03ms (GtG) response time. This allows gamers to prioritise either visual fidelity or competitive performance.

The 1500R curved 21:9 ultrawide screen maintains the height of a 32-inch monitor while expanding horizontal immersion, making it ideal for gaming and multitasking. With a 142 PPI pixel density and VESA DisplayHDR™ True Black 500 certification, the GX9 delivers deep blacks and bright highlights even in dark scenes.

World’s First 5K New MiniLED Monitor That Minimises Blooming
The UltraGear evo 27-inch GM9 (27GM950B) sets a new benchmark as the world’s first 5K New MiniLED gaming monitor designed to significantly reduce blooming. The monitor’s 2,304 local dimming zones and Zero Optical Distance engineering minimise halo effects and improve contrast accuracy, delivering precise 5K visuals with exceptional clarity.

Like the GX9, the GM9 also features LG’s on-device AI for 5K AI Upscaling, AI Scene Optimisation, and AI Sound, enhancing both image and audio in real time without taxing the GPU.

For flexible performance, the monitor supports Dual Mode, switching between 165Hz at 5K and 330Hz at QHD, with a 1ms (GtG) response time. It is VESA DisplayHDR 1000 certified and reaches up to 1,250 nits peak brightness, ensuring bright highlights and deep blacks are rendered with stunning realism.

World’s Largest 52-Inch 5K2K 240Hz Gaming Monitor
The UltraGear evo 52-inch G9 (52G930B) introduces a new class of large-format gaming monitors as the world’s largest 5K2K gaming display, offering gamers an expansive screen option within the UltraGear evo lineup. Despite its size, the monitor maintains fast performance with a 240Hz refresh rate, ensuring smooth and responsive gameplay.

Its 21:9 panoramic display matches the vertical height of a 42-inch 16:9 screen while extending horizontally for an immersive viewing experience. This setup provides a workspace that is 33% wider than a standard UHD monitor, with a 1000R curvature that fully wraps the user’s peripheral vision. The monitor is also VESA DisplayHDR™ 600 certified, delivering vivid colours and deep contrast.

A New Standard for High-Resolution Gaming
“The new UltraGear evo marks a definitive turning point, signalling the end of compromises in gaming display performance,” said Lee Choong-hwoan, head of the Display Business at LG’s Media Entertainment Solution Company. “With innovations like industry-first 5K AI Upscaling, the lineup ensures that whether gamers prefer perfect blacks, unmatched brightness, or expansive scale, they can enjoy the same high standard of performance, clarity and immersion in high resolution.”

In addition, LG will also begin global sales of the UltraGear™ GX7 (27GX790B) on the opening day of CES 2026. This 27-inch gaming monitor features a QHD Primary RGB Tandem OLED display, a 540Hz refresh rate, and Dual Mode (HD 720Hz), offering top-tier performance for competitive gamers.
