RØDE has expanded its range of creator accessories with the DS3, a new professional desktop studio arm designed for microphones, cameras, lights and other content creation equipment.
Building on the existing DS2, the new model increases its load capacity while introducing improved adjustability and stability. The result is a more versatile mounting solution aimed at podcasters, streamers, broadcasters and creators working with increasingly sophisticated desktop setups.
Built to Handle Heavier Gear
One of the biggest upgrades is the DS3’s 1.5kg payload capacity, allowing it to accommodate heavier equipment including broadcast-grade XLR microphones such as RØDE’s PodMic, as well as large-diaphragm microphones, cameras and lights.

A new precision-engineered integrated ball head provides smooth and controlled positioning while operating virtually silently – particularly useful when adjustments need to be made during a recording or live broadcast.
Once the desired position is found, a central locking mechanism secures the equipment at the chosen angle in a single movement.
No Desk Clamp Required
Like its DS2 predecessor, the DS3 takes a different approach from conventional microphone boom arms by using a weighted desktop base rather than a clamp.

This means it can be placed virtually anywhere on a flat surface instead of being restricted to the edge of a desk. RØDE has redesigned the base for the new generation to provide greater stability when supporting heavier equipment, while maintaining a relatively compact footprint.
The freestanding design should also make the DS3 particularly useful for desks where clamps are impractical, or for creators who regularly reposition their equipment.
Designed for Cleaner Creator Setups
RØDE has also paid attention to vibration management and cable clutter.

The Classic Black DS3 uses soft-touch silicone pads on and beneath its base, while the upcoming Crisp White version uses natural cork. Besides complementing the different finishes, these materials are designed to help isolate the arm from vibrations travelling through the desktop.
Integrated cable clips provide a neat route for XLR and USB cables, helping keep wires organised and out of the way.
Compatibility is broad, with 3/8-inch, 1/4-inch and 5/8-inch thread adaptors supplied in the box. This allows the DS3 to work with a wide range of microphones and creator accessories without requiring users to purchase additional mounting hardware.
The RØDE DS3 is available now in Classic Black for US$109, with worldwide shipping. A Crisp White version is set to follow soon.
