JBL is making it easier to enjoy music throughout the home with the launch of JBL Cove, a new range of Wi-Fi speakers designed to deliver immersive sound without the complications of a traditional multi-room audio setup.
Whether you are relaxing in the living room, cooking in the kitchen or entertaining friends, the new system lets you enjoy your favourite playlists across different spaces, with the flexibility to play music in one room or throughout the entire house.
The range comprises three models — JBL Cove M1, Cove P1 and Cove X1 — each designed for different listening needs. Powered by JBL’s in-house platform and controlled through the JBL One app, the speakers can work independently, as stereo pairs or together as part of an expandable whole-home audio system.
Three Speakers for Different Spaces
The JBL Cove M1 is the compact option, designed for everyday listening in smaller spaces. Featuring three tweeters and a woofer, it offers a convenient way to bring JBL sound into bedrooms, studies or other corners of the home without taking up too much space.
For greater flexibility, the JBL Cove P1 adds portability to the equation. Equipped with four tweeters, including an upward-firing driver, and a woofer, it supports Dolby Atmos for a more immersive listening experience.
Its built-in battery delivers up to 14 hours of playback, while an included charging dock makes recharging as simple as placing the speaker back in position. An IP56 rating also provides protection against dust and water, making it suitable for more varied listening environments.
Sitting at the top of the range is the JBL Cove X1, designed to deliver a bigger, room-filling sound. It features four tweeters, including an upward-firing driver, and two woofers, alongside Dolby Atmos support for a more spacious, three-dimensional audio experience.
All three models feature JBL’s Constant Sound Field technology, which aims to maintain balanced sound throughout the room. Automatic self-tuning helps optimise audio performance according to speaker placement, while AI Sound Boost works to minimise distortion at higher volumes.
Let Your Music Follow You
One of the more interesting features of JBL Cove is Music Follows Me, which makes moving between rooms a more seamless experience.
Instead of reaching for your phone or manually switching between speakers, simply press and hold the Moment button to move your music to another Cove speaker. It is a thoughtful feature for everyday living, particularly when moving between the kitchen, bedroom and living room.
The JBL One app also makes it easy to group speakers for whole-home playback or stream music in an individual room without having to reset or ungroup the entire system.
Setting up the speakers is designed to be straightforward, with a simple three-step process and app-optional operation for supported functions.
From Music Listening to Home Theatre
JBL Cove is not limited to music. The speakers can also integrate with compatible JBL Bar Series MK2 soundbars, allowing users to expand their audio setup into a multi-channel home theatre system.
Through the JBL One app, compatible Cove speakers can serve as rear channels, adding greater immersion when watching movies and television programmes with Dolby Atmos.
This functionality is currently supported on the Cove M1 and Cove P1, while compatibility for the Cove X1 is expected through a future software update.
For wireless streaming, the range supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Apple AirPlay 2, Google Cast, Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, Qobuz Connect and Roon Ready connectivity. Spotify Tap also provides quick access to music through the Moment button.
