Big Sound, Zero Compromise: Dan Clark Audio AEON Core

Audiophiles can now experience Dan Clark Audio’s latest closed-back planar magnetic headphones, the AEON Core. Positioned as the successor to the acclaimed AEON 2, the new headphones combine an all-new planar magnetic driver, updated Harman-based tuning, and Dan Clark Audio’s signature lightweight comfort in its most accessible reference headphone yet.

Since the introduction of the AEON series in 2017, Dan Clark Audio has been committed to making high-end planar magnetic sound more attainable. The AEON Core continues that mission with meaningful upgrades in driver design, acoustic tuning, and overall usability.

Spacious Sound from a Closed-Back Design
One of the standout qualities of the AEON Core is its ability to deliver an expansive, open soundstage despite its closed-back construction.

Designed to minimise sound leakage while maintaining an airy and natural presentation, the headphones are ideal for music lovers who listen in shared environments such as offices, homes, or studios. Whether used for critical music listening, mixing, or content creation, the AEON Core offers excellent passive isolation without the boxed-in sound commonly associated with closed-back headphones.

New Driver, Greater Efficiency
The AEON Core introduces a completely redesigned planar magnetic driver focused on improving efficiency, tonal consistency, and manufacturing precision.

Built with a new diaphragm material and Dan Clark Audio’s proprietary V-Planar technology, the driver delivers lower distortion, improved dynamics, and a more refined frequency response.

Unlike many planar magnetic headphones that demand powerful desktop amplifiers, the AEON Core is among Dan Clark Audio’s easiest headphones to drive. With 97dB/mW sensitivity, it works comfortably with portable DAC/amps, USB dongles, digital audio players, and desktop headphone amplifiers, making high-end planar performance more accessible than ever.

First Headphone Tuned to a New Harman Target
The AEON Core is also the first Dan Clark Audio headphone developed using a revised Harman over-ear tuning target created in collaboration with renowned audio researcher Dr Sean Olive.

As headphone measurement standards have evolved over the years, Dan Clark Audio worked alongside Olive to update the original Harman target so it accurately reflects modern measurement systems. The result is a tuning that delivers:

● Leaner, more controlled upper bass
● Fuller lower midrange
● Smoother upper mids
● Natural, forward vocals
● Tight and articulate bass response

The updated tuning aims to provide a more accurate and balanced listening experience for both casual listeners and audio professionals.

Premium Comfort for Long Listening Sessions
Maintaining the design language of the AEON series, the AEON Core features an elegant combination of aluminium earcups with dark wood accents, complemented by the brand’s lightweight titanium headband and self-adjusting vegan leather suspension strap.

Weighing just 440g, the headphones remain comfortable during extended listening sessions while retaining the premium craftsmanship Dan Clark Audio is known for.
