In the rapidly evolving world of technology, artificial intelligence (AI) is no longer just a buzzword; it is transformative in reshaping how we interact with our devices. A Copilot+ PC, Lenovo’s Yoga Slim 7x is at the forefront of this revolution, seamlessly integrating advanced AI capabilities into a sleek and portable design. As someone who values both innovation and practicality, I was excited to see how the Yoga Slim 7x combines affordability with premium features, making cutting-edge AI accessible to a broader audience.
At just 12.9 mm thick, it’s one of the slimmest models in the Yoga lineup. I love how the Cosmic Blue aluminium chassis adds a touch of elegance while being incredibly durable, having passed the rigorous MIL-STD-810H military-grade certification. The Comfort Edge design makes the laptop easy to carry, and the dish-shaped keys with 1.5mm key travel provide a typing experience that feels just like Lenovo’s commercial laptop keyboards.
The spacious 135mm trackpad offers plenty of room for gestures and scrolling. The 14.5-inch 3K (2944 x 1840) OLED touch display is one of the standout features for me. It offers vibrant colours and deep contrasts thanks to Dolby Vision and 100% DCI-P3 colour accuracy.
Under the hood, the Yoga Slim 7x is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite processor, featuring the custom Qualcomm Oryon CPU with 12 performance cores. This ensures exceptional performance for compute-intensive tasks such as video transcoding, data analysis, and coding.
The Snapdragon X Elite platform is also remarkably power-efficient, consuming 68% less power than competitors, setting a new benchmark for efficiency and performance. The AI-accelerated Qualcomm Hexagon NPU enables advanced on-device AI capabilities, providing both power efficiency and enhanced data security.
On the topic of AI, one of the standout features of the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x is the Microsoft Copilot+, and I’ve had some incredible experiences using it.
Co-Creator
With the Cocreator feature, I can imagine myself to be an artist. I wanted to create an image for my online gaming avatar, and Cocreator made the process seamless and fun. I simply entered a text prompt and started drawing (amateur) on the Paint canvas.
Cocreator generated beautiful artwork based on my input as I drew. It was amazing to see the powerful AI co-creating alongside me, helping me bring my ideas to life. As I edited my drawing, it responded and evolved in near real-time.
The creativity slider allowed me to get more or less assistance from the AI to modify my image. I even applied one of the available style filters, “Anime”, to style my image. I could create without limits! For the creatives, you can even score a complimentary 2-month Adobe Creative Cloud pass when you purchase this laptop.
Restyle Image
I wanted to create a sunset watercolour painting of Singapore’s city skyline, and Restyle Image allowed me to transform a simple photo into a stunning piece of art with just a few clicks. Reimagine your photos with the Restyle Image feature, which combines image generation and photo editing into one powerful tool.
I used a pre-set watercolour style, but there are also many other styles to try such as Cyberpunk and Pixel art to modify the entire feel of my pictures.
The AI intelligently applied the style I chose, turning my photo into a masterpiece that looked like it was painted by a professional artist.
Image Creator
I was planning my dog’s 5th birthday party and wanted to create a cute image of a dog licking ice cream for the invite. Image Creator in Photos generates endless images quickly and for free, even with my most abstract requests.
It can fine-tune text-prompted images to my liking. It made it easy to generate numerous adorable images for me to pick my favourite one! I could also save my favourite images or collections to come back to whenever I needed them.
This feature was incredibly helpful and made the invitation design process both enjoyable and efficient.
Recall^
One of the upcoming features of Copilot is the Recall feature. One of the most common frustrations with using a PC is finding something you know you’ve seen but can’t remember how to get back to. Lenovo has aimed to solve this with the upcoming Recall feature, which will soon be available in the Windows Insider Program (WIP).
Recall saves snapshots of your active screen periodically, as frequently as every 3-5 seconds. This means I can easily find my snapshots and re-open a document, get to the right webpage, or highlight and copy images or text using screenplay across other applications.
Audio quality is another area where the Yoga Slim 7x excels. It boasts four 2W speakers enhanced by Dolby Atmos, delivering rich and immersive sound. For video calls, the FHD camera with IR ensures clear visuals, and the quad microphones with smart noise cancellation guarantee crisp and clear audio.
Battery life is impressive, thanks to the 70Wh battery. Lenovo’s Rapid Charge Boost technology provides up to three hours of runtime with just a 15-minute charge, making it ideal for users on the go. I can be jumping between meetings or working from a coffee shop, and this feature ensures that I’m never caught without power.
The Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x stands out as a forward-thinking laptop that integrates AI seamlessly into everyday computing tasks. Its combination of a sleek and durable design, vibrant display, and powerful performance is enhanced by the thoughtful AI features that redefine productivity and creativity.
