Over the course of this weekend, I had the privilege to test out the newest Google Pixel series, the Google Pixel 7 Pro and here’s my review of it. To kick things off, here’s a quick unboxing video of what you will get once purchasing and the phone cover that you can get added on.
Alright, when reading about the Pixel 7 Pro, the photography features stood out to me – Not going to lie, photography capabilities are high on my priority list when purchasing a new phone and I guess it’s the same for many others. The Pixel 7 Pro delivered what it promised in creating outstanding photos and videos. Let’s run through my favourite camera capabilities:
Macro Focus
Only available in the 7 Pro, I got myself headed to my mum’s garden to shoot some of her prized plants to test out the Macro Focus. Needless to say, the photos are vibrant and stunning. It was interesting to see how crisp and close the photo can get of the petals.
Super Res Zoom
Though this will come in useful for users headed to concerts or sporting events to capture their beloved star or player, I had to make do with what I had. So I went down to the supermarket to see how far I can shoot when standing at one end of the street. The thing about zooming in on photos is that you have to be very still to capture something high res. However, with the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro’s Super Res Zoom feature, you are in safe hands. The Google Pixel 7 Pro can go up to 30x.
Photo Unblur
So to test this feature out, I shook the phone and tried to take my mom’s plants and lo and behold, the Google Pixel 7 Pro automatically edits the shaken photo to be sharper. For those who would like to edit their past photos, you simply need to upload your older blurry photos to trigger the unblur function.
Night Sight
When it came to the evening, it was time to utilise the Night Sight feature. So I headed to my front yard to capture the garden at night, I believe it was around 9 pm, and the video visualised how the night sight feature managed to capture the garden clearly. This is rare as most phones don’t do well in low light conditions.
Cinematic videography that brings colours to life
With Cinematic Blur, I was able to capture focused videos in a cinematic style. The main highlights of this video were my Mom’s plants with the Perilla Leaf plant and Chinese Violet plant as the focus. Combined with the new 10-bit HDR, it was as though my videos came back to life!
Outside of these camera features, the Google Pixel 7 Pro is a robust and intelligent phone that is equipped with Android 13 and our newest Google Tensor G2 processor. With the improved speech recognition capabilities, I sincerely believe this can be very helpful for those with disabilities as well as the older generation.
Security and privacy are also key considering current times and Google Pixel understands that and has designed features to ensure peace of mind. With the Titan M2 security chip, the inclusion of VPN by Google One and the upgraded phone unlock systems, you can be sure that you are in good hands.
