While I consider myself to be a PC gamer, I’m mostly casual, and to be honest, never felt the need to get a fast monitor, especially as I’m not an online FPS gamer like my nephew, who’s current addiction is Valorant, so this LG UltraGear 27GP750 could be an ideal 27-inch fast gamer for him.
The UltraGear 27GP750 is a very fast Full-HD monitor that’s specifically created for FPS gamers who want a high response rate and super low lag, without the bells and whistles, and that’s pretty much what I expected to get when I unpacked this monitor. Setup is fast, the snazzy gamer-centric legs easily screw into the main body of the stand, while the standard VESA mount on the back of the monitor easily locks onto the monitor arms that I use. The display itself is quite minimalist, with slim bezels that make this a good for a multi-monitor setup, and there’s no RGB bling.
The no-frills element of this UltraGear extends to its connectivity, which comprises 2x HDMI 2.0 ports and a DisplayPort 1.4, though a variant of this model comes with USB in/out interface. Connecting to my Lenovo Legion 5 gaming notebook via HDMI was all I needed to get the monitor to perform correctly, with the notebook correctly detecting that its refresh rate is 240Hz, likely as this monitor is both AMD FreeSync and NVIDIA G-SYNC compatible, so my notebook’s NVIDIA GeForce 3060 Ti graphics card has zero issues.
Graphics-wise, this is a decent 1080P monitor for ‘normal’ work, with excellent 99% sRGB and HDR10, so as a fast panel, it’s great for watching sports with a lot of motion, such as Formula One, football, or tennis, though I prefer a monitor with 2K or above resolution for work, as I read and write a lot of text.
Now as I mentioned, this is a fast monitor for gamers who require pin-sharp accuracy, and this UItraGear IPS display delivers with a high 1ms (GtG) response time and 240Hz Refresh Rate, so you see zero ghosting and nil lag. As a flat screen, it also has a very decent viewing angle, so you can show off to your friend who’s visiting you.
As an UltraGear monitor, it also benefits from built-in LG technology, including Dynamic Action Sync to reduce input lag, Black Stabilizer and crosshairs, which are all accessed by a rather large and clear OSD menu, and you can also use presets for FPS or RTS games, or create two customised profiles to match your favourite games.
