Apple TV 4K Gets Smarter with Siri AI, Faster Performance and Immersive Surround Sound

Apple is bringing a smarter and more immersive entertainment experience into the living room with its fourth-generation Apple TV 4K. Unveiled on 13 October 2026, the latest streaming device introduces a more conversational Siri powered by Apple Intelligence, improved performance and expanded home theatre capabilities, making it much more than a simple way to stream movies and television shows.

At the heart of the upgrade is Siri AI, which transforms how users discover entertainment and interact with their television. Combined with a faster A19 chip, built-in microphones and deeper smart home integration, the new Apple TV 4K aims to become a central part of the connected home.

Siri AI Makes Finding Something to Watch Easier
One of the biggest additions is Siri AI, Apple’s next-generation voice assistant designed to understand natural conversations and provide more relevant responses.

Instead of scrolling endlessly through streaming catalogues or searching for a specific title, users can simply ask Siri for recommendations based on their interests. For example, asking about award-winning comedies or popular documentaries brings up a full-screen interface with relevant titles and artwork, making it easier to explore different viewing options.

Siri AI can also answer follow-up questions while a movie or television show is playing. Curious about where a particular series was filmed or whether a programme is suitable for younger viewers? Siri can display the information in a compact overlay without completely interrupting the viewing experience.

When paired with an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone, Siri AI can also draw on personal context to help users find content mentioned in messages or other supported information on their device.

The new Apple TV 4K features three built-in far-field microphones, allowing users to activate Siri simply by speaking, without reaching for the remote. Advanced echo cancellation helps the device recognise voice commands even when music or television audio is playing.

Faster Performance with the A19 Chip
Powering the new Apple TV 4K is Apple’s A19 chip, delivering up to 50 per cent faster CPU performance and twice the GPU performance of the previous generation.

The improvements promise smoother navigation, faster app launches and more responsive animations, whether users are switching between streaming services, browsing the Apple TV interface or playing games through Apple Arcade.

A dedicated AV1 decoder also enables more efficient high-quality video streaming while reducing bandwidth requirements, which can be particularly useful for households streaming 4K content regularly.

The accompanying Siri Remote retains its familiar design but gains a particularly practical feature: Find My support. Users can now locate a misplaced remote through their iPhone, with Precision Finding on compatible devices or the option to make the remote play a sound.

For anyone who has spent time searching between sofa cushions for a missing remote, this is a welcome improvement.

Turn Your Living Room into a Home Theatre
Apple is also expanding the Apple TV 4K’s audio capabilities with support for a four-speaker HomePod surround sound setup.

For the first time, users can pair the fourth-generation Apple TV 4K with four HomePod mini 2 speakers to create a more immersive listening experience. The speakers automatically recognise their positions within the room and adjust audio timing and levels to suit the space.

The setup also supports second-generation HomePod speakers, provided the front and rear speaker pairs are appropriately matched.

This makes it possible to create a wireless surround sound arrangement without the complexity of traditional home theatre equipment. Whether watching an action-packed blockbuster, enjoying a concert or catching up on a favourite series, the system is designed to deliver a fuller and more engaging sound experience.

More Than Just a Streaming Device
Beyond entertainment, the new Apple TV 4K continues to serve as a smart home hub, allowing users to manage compatible accessories directly from their television.

With a supported smart doorbell, for instance, users can receive notifications when someone arrives, see who is at the entrance and even unlock a compatible smart lock without leaving the sofa.

Apple Intelligence also introduces more useful camera activity descriptions and summarised notifications, helping homeowners understand what is happening around their property without reviewing lengthy video recordings.

Through Siri AI, users can control connected lighting, adjust compatible thermostats or activate smart home scenes using natural voice commands. Built-in Wi-Fi and Thread connectivity help the device communicate with supported accessories.

Privacy remains an important focus, with Apple using protected processing environments for microphone data and Private Cloud Compute for supported Siri AI requests. HomeKit Secure Video footage is also protected with end-to-end encryption.

Entertainment, Fitness and Family Moments
The Apple TV 4K is designed to do more than stream the latest shows.

With Apple Fitness+, users can follow guided workouts on the television, transforming the living room into a convenient exercise space. Apple Arcade brings a selection of games to the big screen, while FaceTime support through Continuity Camera makes it possible to enjoy video calls with family and friends from the comfort of the sofa.

Apple is also improving how personal photographs appear on television. Using an iPhone or iPad, users can customise iCloud photo displays, create personalised slideshows and set up Portraits screen savers without exposing their entire photo library.

A new screen saver shuffle feature automatically rotates between different categories, keeping the television display fresh even when it is not being used for entertainment.

Singapore Pricing and Availability
The fourth-generation Apple TV 4K is priced at S$399 in Singapore, with local availability to be announced.
