A. Lange & Söhne has introduced two remarkable new timepieces at Watches and Wonders 2026, showcasing its continued pursuit of technical excellence and refined design. The LANGE 1 TOURBILLON PERPETUAL CALENDAR “Lumen” and the SAXONIA ANNUAL CALENDAR each embody distinct expressions of Saxon watchmaking artistry.

Leading the release is the LANGE 1 TOURBILLON PERPETUAL CALENDAR “Lumen”, a highly sophisticated timepiece that integrates two grand complications into the unmistakable architecture of the LANGE 1. Limited to just 50 pieces, the watch combines a tourbillon with stop seconds and a perpetual calendar featuring instantaneously switching displays and a peripheral month ring. What sets it apart further is its fully luminous display system, ensuring readability even in complete darkness.

The watch preserves the iconic asymmetrical dial layout of the LANGE 1 while introducing a carefully orchestrated interplay of contrast and transparency. Its platinum case contrasts sharply against the dark dial and black alligator strap, while the semi-transparent sapphire dial allows UV light to charge the luminous elements beneath.

Among its standout features is the luminous oversized date, which reveals the intricate underlying mechanism even at night. The moon-phase display introduces an integrated day-and-night indication, where a rotating celestial disc transitions from a bright daytime sky to a dark star-filled nightscape. The display is engineered with exceptional precision, deviating from the actual lunar cycle by only one day after 122.6 years.

Powering the watch is the newly developed self-winding calibre L225.1, visible through both the dial and sapphire caseback. The movement integrates the tourbillon, perpetual calendar and moon-phase display into a highly complex architecture finished to the highest standards. Hand-polished tourbillon components, engraved stars and a diamond endstone further reinforce the watch’s artisanal character.

Complementing this technical showcase is the new SAXONIA ANNUAL CALENDAR, a more understated yet equally refined expression of Lange’s watchmaking philosophy. Available in white gold and pink gold, the watch combines a compact case with a newly developed self-winding movement and a clean, highly legible dial layout.

The design prioritises clarity, with the oversized date taking centre stage, flanked by sub-dials displaying the day of the week and month.

At 6 o’clock, the moon-phase display adds visual depth while maintaining balance within the dial composition. The moon-phase mechanism is also highly precise, requiring correction only once every 122.6 years.

Functionally, the annual calendar automatically distinguishes between months with 30 and 31 days, requiring manual adjustment only once a year at the transition to March. The mechanism is designed for user convenience, allowing all calendar indications to be advanced together or adjusted individually through dedicated correctors.

Inside beats the new self-winding calibre L207.1, equipped with a platinum centrifugal mass and delivering a 60-hour power reserve. As with all Lange movements, every component is lavishly hand-finished, visible through the sapphire caseback.
Despite their differences in complexity and presentation, both watches reflect A. Lange & Söhne’s dedication to combining traditional craftsmanship with technical innovation.
Whether through the radiant complexity of the “Lumen” or the understated sophistication of the SAXONIA ANNUAL CALENDAR, each timepiece demonstrates the manufacture’s continued commitment to precision, legibility and enduring design.
The LANGE 1 TOURBILLON PERPETUAL CALENDAR “Lumen” retails at USD 530,000, and the SAXONIA ANNUAL CALENDAR retails around USD 49,600.
