HONOR 600 Pro elevated value AI imaging

The HONOR 600 Pro pushes higher performance while keeping prices sane

Singapore is one of the first countries to launch the new HONOR 600 Series, which includes the HONOR 600 and HONOR 600 Pro.

NXT is one of the first media platforms to receive a unit of the HONOR 600 Pro to experience the new premium midrange.

The HONOR 600 Pro is powered by the flagship-level Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, delivering smooth performance across gaming, multitasking and daily usage. It delivers the snappy experience that closely matches the HONOR Magic8 Pro. With its striking unibody design and matte metal frame, the device exudes premium craftsmanship while maintaining durability through IP68/IP69K certification and SGS 5-star drop resistance.

Complementing the chipset is a 6.57-inch HDR-certified display with an astonishing 8000 nits peak brightness and 120Hz refresh rate. Keeping the display almost bezel-free with just a 0.98mm black border and 200 grams, the phone feels compact and comfortable to hold. The 7000mAh battery delivers endurance that easily stretches almost 2 days of use. No longer do I need to charge the phone overnight, as I can quickly top up the battery thanks to the 80W wired SuperCharge.

In the camera department, HONOR fits a 200MP 1/1.4-inch main camera, a major bump from the Magic8 Pro’s 50MP. The new sensor deploys an improved AI Colour Engine, which achieves a more vivid output, slightly brighter exposure, and more resolving details.

On the flipside, the HONOR 600 Pro’s 50MP telephoto camera delivers a more humbling result compared to the Magic8 Pro’s 200MP sensor. The telephoto images deliver excellent images up to 60X, beyond which the quality degrades. At its maximum zoom range of 120X, it seems to struggle to extract pixel details to allow the AI Enhance engine to transform the image.

In comparison, the HONOR Magic8 Pro commands better quality at the zoom end. The saving grace is the CIPA 6.5 stabilization which makes handheld shooting less frustrating. I was able to keep the image steady before I fired the shutter, ensuring the shots were not blurred.

Another major feature bump is the AI Image-to-Video 2.0. Version 1 had very few templates and was limited to uploading one image. With V2.0, there are more templates to choose from, you can upload up to 3 images for some templates, and you can even write your own AI prompts. Some of the outcomes are rather impressive, though it does not work all the time. You need the right images and the right prompts for the tool to know how to interpret.

Audio performance is solid with stereo output, though less ambitious than the AI Surround Subwoofer found in the Magic8 Pro.

The HONOR 600 Pro is a midrange powerhouse that delivers raw performance, cutting-edge AI tools, and exceptional camera capabilities for its price.

It may not offer the facial biometrics or immersive subwoofer audio feel of the HONOR Magic8 Pro, but for those prioritising content creation, display brilliance, and endurance, the HONOR 600 Pro stands out as a compelling choice.

Higher processor, better camera, longer battery, sub-$1000 price. HONOR continues to challenge the market with a competitively-priced HONOR 600 Pro packed with premium features.
