The new player pays tribute to the golden age of portable CD players, when carrying a favourite album meant slipping a disc into a player before heading out the door. Rather than chasing the latest streaming technology, NINM Lab aims to recreate the joy of experiencing music as a tangible collection, encouraging listeners to rediscover the albums sitting on their shelves.
POPDISC™ features a compact circular design inspired by classic portable CD players of the 1990s while incorporating practical updates for everyday use. Users simply insert a CD, plug in the included wired earphones, press play and enjoy their music anywhere. Powered by two AA batteries, the player is designed to be completely independent of mobile devices and wireless connectivity, making it ideal for travel, commuting or simply enjoying uninterrupted listening.
Despite its retro inspiration, the player includes several modern conveniences. A built-in LED display provides playback information, while 60-second anti-shock protection helps minimise interruptions caused by movement during portable use. The player also includes a standard 3.5mm headphone output, allowing users to connect the supplied wired earphones or their own favourite headphones.
POPDISC™ supports playback of CD, CD-R and CD-RW discs, giving users the flexibility to enjoy commercially released albums as well as personally burned music collections. NINM Lab is offering the POPDISC™ in two distinctive finishes that reflect different design philosophies. The Red edition captures the vibrant energy and playful spirit of 1990s pop culture, while the Clear version embraces the company’s signature transparent aesthetic, allowing users to admire the spinning disc and the internal mechanical components as the music plays.
