MB&F Unveils the Legacy Machine FlyingT Onyx: A New Gemstone Edition in the Horological Art Collection

Maximilian Büsser and his horological think tank, MB&F (Maximilian Büsser & Friends), are celebrating a new milestone in their journey of extraordinary watchmaking with the launch of the Legacy Machine FlyingT Onyx edition.

Entering its 14th year, MB&F continues to explore new realms of creativity, bringing to life timepieces that are not just tools for telling time but pieces of three-dimensional horological art. This latest addition to the FlyingT collection, first introduced in 2019, marks another year of innovation, drawing inspiration from the influential women in Büsser’s life.

The Legacy Machine FlyingT, known for its unique and dynamic approach to timekeeping, has garnered attention for its sophisticated design and intricate mechanics. The collection is distinguished by its round cases in gold or platinum, steeply cambered bezels, and elongated lugs, often adorned with a dazzling array of diamonds. A standout feature is the high dome of sapphire crystal that encases the flying tourbillon within, projecting a cinematic display of movement and light.

The Onyx edition introduces the deep, absorbing black of the onyx gemstone, set in an 18k yellow gold case, adding a new layer of elegance and mystery to the collection. The watch features a subtly curved dial plate beneath the sapphire crystal dome, offering various finishes from liquid black lacquer to vibrant gemstones. At the heart of the watch is the cinematic flying tourbillon, beating at 2.5Hz (18,000vph), with a single large diamond affixed to the top, rotating in sync with the tourbillon and casting fiery brilliance.

True to the numeric theme that runs throughout the FlyingT series, the time display is located at the 7 o’clock position, with the dial inclined at a 50° tilt. This design ensures that only the wearer can read the time, emphasizing the watch’s personal and intimate nature. On the reverse, the automatic winding rotor, shaped like a three-dimensional sun in red gold, powers the Legacy Machine FlyingT with a four-day reserve.

Maximilian Büsser’s creation is a tribute to the feminine and maternal influences in his life, particularly his mother. The Legacy Machine FlyingT combines elegance and vitality, symbolizing the strength and pillar-like support of women. The sun-shaped rotor adds another layer of meaning, representing life-giving energy and sustenance.

The Legacy Machine FlyingT Onyx is the latest gemstone edition to join the series, with previous editions featuring Lapis Lazuli, Malachite, Tiger Eye, and ‘Cœur de Rubis’ (anyolite).

Priced at SGD 202,000 each with tax, this sophisticated timepiece is a testament to MB&F’s continued evolution and commitment to pushing the boundaries of traditional watchmaking.
