Apple is making a bigger move into the smart home with the introduction of Apple Home Collection, a new range of connected accessories designed to make everyday living more convenient, secure and intuitive.
Developed in collaboration with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric, the lineup includes smart cameras, a video doorbell, a smart door lock, thermostats and temperature sensors, all designed to work seamlessly within the Apple Home ecosystem.
Announced on 13 October 2026, the collection aims to simplify what can often be a complicated smart home setup. Instead of juggling different apps, accounts and devices, users can connect compatible accessories with a tap on their iPhone and manage everything through the Apple Home app or Siri.
Keep an Eye on Home, Wherever You Are
Home security takes centre stage with four new cameras from LG Electronics, including an Indoor Cam, Outdoor Cam, Floodlight Cam and Video Doorbell. The cameras offer high-resolution monitoring, intelligent detection and integration with Apple’s home ecosystem.

The LG Video Doorbell features a dual-camera design, allowing users to see both visitors standing at the entrance and packages left near the doorstep. Its front camera captures video in up to 2.5K resolution, while a separate Full HD camera provides a view of the ground below.

For outdoor monitoring, the Floodlight Cam combines motion-activated lighting with colour night vision, while the Outdoor Cam offers flexible placement and visibility in low-light conditions.

The Indoor Cam takes a particularly thoughtful approach to privacy. It can automatically tilt its lens downward when a household member returns home, stopping monitoring when it is no longer needed. Users can also adjust the camera’s viewing angle manually or through the Home app.
With a compatible Apple Home hub and supported iCloud+ subscription, users can access up to 10 days of encrypted event video history. Apple Intelligence also introduces automatic video summaries and natural-language search on eligible plans, making it easier to locate specific moments without scrolling through hours of footage.
A Smarter Way to Open the Front Door
Apple Home Collection also introduces the LG Smart Deadbolt Lock, which brings hands-free convenience to home access.
Using Ultra Wideband technology, the lock can recognise when someone carrying a compatible iPhone or Apple Watch approaches the door and unlock automatically. Users can also unlock it by tapping their device, entering a PIN or using a concealed physical key.

The lock monitors whether the door is open, closed or potentially tampered with, while guest access can be shared through the Home app. This makes it convenient to provide temporary entry for visiting family members, house sitters or other trusted guests.
Paired with LG’s Video Doorbell, the system allows users to see who is at the entrance, communicate with visitors and unlock the door from a single interface, even when they are away from home.

Support for Matter and Aliro also enables core access functions to operate locally without relying entirely on an internet connection.
Intelligent Climate Control Without the Fuss
Keeping the home comfortable is another focus of the collection, with new smart thermostats from LG Electronics and Schneider Electric.

Rather than requiring users to constantly adjust temperatures or create complicated schedules, the thermostats work with Apple’s Adaptive Temperature feature to respond to daily routines.

Using intelligence from compatible Apple devices, the Home app can adjust the temperature depending on whether someone is at home, preparing for bed or away for the day. This helps maintain a comfortable environment while potentially reducing unnecessary energy consumption.
The system can also coordinate with other connected accessories. For example, leaving home could trigger the door to lock, cameras to resume monitoring and the thermostat to adjust automatically.
Privacy at the Heart of the Smart Home
As homes become increasingly connected, protecting personal information is just as important as convenience.
Apple says the Home Collection has been designed with end-to-end encryption, ensuring that camera footage and personal data remain accessible only to users and people they authorise.

Video processing takes place locally on a compatible Apple Home hub or through Apple’s Private Cloud Compute infrastructure, while supported iCloud+ plans provide encrypted cloud storage for recorded events.

The accessories also support Thread connectivity, helping maintain reliable communication between devices. If users change their home Wi-Fi network, compatible accessories can automatically update their network credentials, reducing the need to reconnect each device individually.
Availability
The Apple Home Collection will begin rolling out in December 2026, with selected accessories arriving in early 2027.
