FiiO has released the FiiO FH15, a new in-ear monitor design that features a dragon scale motif in a moderately-sized oval shape that conforms and fits perfectly in the ear for increased comfort. It features a brand-new 10mm dynamic driver with a carbon-based diaphragm that provides excellent transient performance. When combined with other cutting-edge technologies, the FH15 is intended to provide a musical experience that puts you right there with the artists.
Joseph, Chief Engineer of FiiO IEMs R&D Center shares that “The bass, mids, and treble have been tuned in a way that allows the FH15 to sound great with all genres of music. For those wanting to precisely dial in the sound of instrumental music focusing on particular instruments such as the piano, guitar, violin, etc. the FH15 features interchangeable filters with distinctly different sounds.”
1,400 days of fine-tuning
The FiiO FH15 IEM is the result of four years of development, three generations of other product launches, countless experiments, and restarts. FiiO created a brand-new 10mm dynamic driver with a carbon-based diaphragm using objective data analysis and subjective listening tests. As a result, the musical experience is similar to being in the same room as the artists themselves.
Move as one
Thousands of stacked and woven cross-fibre carbon filaments make up the dynamic driver. These light and strong filaments move as one from the driver’s edge to the centre for incredible fidelity.
Triples is best
The middle and treble frequencies are driven by a trio of balanced armature drivers. These drivers work in tandem with specially placed tuning holes in the FH15’s shell to produce lusher vocals and more airy details.
Ultra-realistic vocals
The FH15 makes use of a specially designed resonator to boost the volume of sounds between 1kHz and 4kHz, producing denser and more realistic vocals and instruments. The resonator is linked to a narrow opening, which eliminates unwanted resonance peaks and overlapping frequencies. The overall effect is improved driver coherence and a significant reduction in sibilance.
Anti-“muddy mid” design
The FH15 filters the higher frequencies produced by the bass driver to prevent bloated and muddy mid frequencies. This configuration reduces frequency response overlap between the bass and mid-drivers, resulting in a much cleaner and more natural sound.
152-core high-purity monocrystalline copper cable
The FH15 comes with a 152-wire silver-plated monocrystalline copper cable with 8 Litz-braided strands. The Litz braiding specifically reduces skin and proximity effects, resulting in lower eddy current losses and thus better high-frequency resolution. Additionally, the audio plugs are interchangeable, and 3.5mm/4.4mm plugs are included.
The FiiO FH15 is currently retailing at S$350.55 and is available via AV1 Group.
