Parmigiani Fleurier Unveil the New Tonda PF Collection

28 Wilkie, a one-Michelin-starred Modern European restaurant headed by Chef de Cuisine, Seth Lai, was the venue for the unveiling of the latest collections from Parmigiani Fleurier hosted by Sincere Fine Watches.

At the event, 23 seasoned watch collectors from around Southeast Asia were treated to Chef Seth’s accomplished take on seasonal produce, in particular, premium ingredients from Japan, at the elegant restaurant located on the ground floor of a 1930s conservation building.

It was an opportunity for those in attendance to meet with and interact with Mr. Guido Terreni, who was appointed to the position of CEO of Parmigiani Fleurier in January 2021. The news was received positively by watch collectors when it was announced, given Guido Terreni’s long industry experience, his previous and widely hailed successes, as well as his creative and aesthetic sensibilities.

Mr. Guido Terreni, CEO of Parmigiani Fleurier, will help to chart a new direction for Parmigiani Fleurier, a pioneering independent watch brand established in 1996 by Mr. Michel Parmigiani, watchmaker and restorer extraordinaire. Owned by the Sandoz Family Foundation, Parmigiani Fleurier is a true manufacture, with the in-house know-how of dial, case, movement and component fabrication, as well as all the decorative arts of traditional horology done to the highest standards. As such, the typical Parmigiani Fleurier watch is a rare object indeed, with only a few thousand pieces made every year.

The highlight for the event was the opportunity for watch collectors to experience the well-received Tonda PF collection in the metal, which has been created under the leadership of Guido Terreni in the short 12 months since he took the helm.

The Tonda PF collection is the brand’s integrated bracelet watch offering, and is a study in fluidity, proportions and taste. While appearing simple overall, every part of a Tonda PF reveals a particular texture, form or detail to be seen and enjoyed.

The signature Grain d’Orge guilloché dial pattern of the Tonda PF collection is the finest imaginable, with a texture just large enough to be visible when looked at closely, but restrained enough not to be too obvious. The PF logo at the 12 o’clock position is nestled in a vertical, oval, double-edged appliqué with extensive finishings. Overall, the Tonda PF collection is a symphony of elegant proportion and sublime details.

Watch collectors were able to view all the models from the collection, including the Tonda PF Micro Rotor, the Tonda PF GMT Rattrapante, the Tonda PF Chronograph, the Tonda PF Annual Calendar and the Tonda PF Skeleton, available in both stainless steel with platinum bezel and 18K rose gold variations.

The undoubted highlight of the presentation was the Tonda PF GMT Rattrapante, with its innovative pusher system on the left side of the case and crown, which allows the wearer to instantly reveal a hidden GMT hour hand under the main hour hand, to conveniently track a second time zone while traveling, as well as the Tonda PF Skeleton, a watch that has been skeletonised to a highly level yet presenting a restrained and elegant manner.

Overall, collectors were delighted to be able to experience the entire Tonda PF collection in person, and to have passionate and detailed discussions on the bold future of Parmigiani Fleurier with Guido Terreni.
