Audemars Piguet Presents the Royal Oak Selfwinding Chronograph

Swiss Haute Horlogerie Manufacturer Audemars Piguet created a dedicated 950 platinum Royal Oak Selfwinding Chronograph, in a limited edition of 20 pieces, for its Singapore-based retailer The Hour Glass, in celebration of their 40th anniversary.

The new Royal Oak Chronograph takes inspiration from a much-loved model released in 2008: a two-tone dial design endowed with subtle details such as an angled date aperture, chronograph counters of increased size at 3 and 9 o’clock, shorter but wider hour-markers, additional luminescent coating on the hands and hour-markers for better readability, as well as new typeset and transfers. These subtle details showcased in this platinum limited edition are enhanced by a Green Grande Tapisserie dial and contrasting yellow gold-toned counters, for a unique look.

In 1972, Audemars Piguet broke the rules with the Royal Oak, the first Haute Horlogerie timepiece entirely crafted from stainless steel and hand-finished with such levels of details. This highly unexpected timepiece combined technical performance and unconventional architectural design, marked by its large octagonal bezel featuring hexagonal screws, its circular engine-turned Tapisserie dial and its integrated bracelet with faceted links descending in side. Overturning prevailing codes, the Royal Oak changed the way people wore their watches and sent the watchmaking industry into a new direction. Today, more than 45 years after the launch of this iconic timepiece, the Royal Oak’s design codes remain as contemporary as ever.

The watch is powered by selfwinding calibre 2385 endowed with an integrated chronograph and a column wheel chronograph mechanism.
