German high horology manufacture A. Lange & Söhne has expanded its progressive digital timepiece family with the launch of a striking new ZEITWERK DATE in pink gold paired with a refined grey dial. This marks the first time the model has been presented in this warm metal hue, adding a fresh elegance to the watch’s bold mechanical innovation.
First introduced in 2009, the ZEITWERK stunned the watch world with its precisely jumping mechanical digital display. The ZEITWERK DATE, launched in 2019, added an inventive ring-shaped date display encircling the dial. Made from printed glass, the ring features numerals 1–31, with a red-highlighted segment that advances precisely at midnight. This allows the date to “orbit” the dial over a month, providing an at-a-glance sense of the month’s progression.
The new pink gold version retains all the hallmarks of the ZEITWERK family, including its left-to-right hour and minute apertures for intuitive reading, patented jumping numerals mechanism, and convenient pushers for independent hour and date correction.
The time bridge—crafted from untreated German silver—frames the digital display, linking the aesthetic of the dial directly to the calibre within.
At the heart of the watch is the manually wound calibre L043.8, comprising 516 parts and offering a 72-hour power reserve. Its patented constant-force escapement ensures precise switching of the numerals every 60 seconds, while maintaining consistent energy to the balance for stable timekeeping.
Turning the watch over reveals the meticulously hand-finished movement through a sapphire crystal caseback, showcasing details such as the solarised ratchet wheel and engraved components.
The ZEITWERK DATE in pink gold measures 44.2 mm in diameter and 12.3 mm in height, and is paired with a hand-stitched dark brown alligator leather strap secured by a pink gold prong buckle. Water-resistant to 30 metres, the piece is as robust as it is refined.
