1. The Escapists 3

Platforms: PC, Nintendo Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X|S
Prison life is about to get a whole lot more complicated as Team17 brings its popular prison-break sandbox into the third dimension. The Escapists 3 retains the series’ signature mix of strategy, crafting and mischief, but now offers greater freedom to explore and execute elaborate escape plans. Players must learn prison routines, gather resources, take on jobs and outsmart guards while plotting their route to freedom.
With five distinctive prisons, more than 120 items and weapons to discover or craft, and environments extending beyond the prison walls, there is plenty of room for creative problem-solving. The game also supports local split-screen play for two and online multiplayer for up to four, making teamwork — or a little friendly sabotage — part of the fun.
2. Machinarium 2

Platform: PC
The charming mechanical world of Machinarium is making a long-awaited comeback. Developed by Amanita Design, Machinarium 2 reunites robots Josef and Berta as they search for a new home and stumble upon a hidden valley inhabited by two unusual robot communities struggling with dwindling energy supplies.
This time, players can switch freely between both characters, combining their unique abilities to solve puzzles that neither could tackle alone. The sequel preserves the original’s wordless storytelling, relying on animated gestures, symbols and expressive characters rather than dialogue. Every environment is hand-drawn, with inspiration drawn from Renaissance landscapes, while returning composer Floex brings another atmospheric soundtrack to the adventure. It promises a thoughtful, visually enchanting experience for puzzle lovers.
3. Valor Mortis

Platforms: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S
History takes a terrifying turn in Valour Mortis, a first-person action Soulslike from One More Level, the studio behind Ghostrunner. Set in a supernatural reimagining of Napoleonic Europe, the game follows William Dowsett, a fallen soldier who awakens from death to discover a continent consumed by a mysterious plague and monstrous enemies.
Armed with swords, firearms and supernatural abilities, players must master precise combat, explore interconnected environments and uncover a conspiracy threatening humanity. The unusual first-person perspective brings a more immediate sense of danger to the traditionally third-person Soulslike formula. Adding cinematic weight to the experience is a voice cast featuring Vincent Cassel as Napoleon Bonaparte and Jennifer English as resistance leader The Shrike. Expect demanding battles, atmospheric exploration and a darker side of European history.
