Republic of Gamers (ROG) is celebrating its 20th anniversary with the ROG Xbox Ally X20, a special-edition gaming handheld that combines a retro-inspired translucent design with upgraded hardware and a new OLED display.
Announced in Singapore on September 11, the handheld is being offered as part of the ROG Xbox Ally X20 Ultimate Bundle, which also includes the ROG XREAL R1 Edition 20 Gaming AR Glasses, a customised dbrand Killswitch case, a 68W power adapter and a Pelican Protector Case. The bundle is priced at S$3,599 and will be sold exclusively through the ASUS Online Store.
A 20th Anniversary Handheld
Designed to commemorate two decades since ROG was established in 2006, the Xbox Ally X20 adopts a translucent black chassis that provides a glimpse of its internal components and cooling system. Gold accents inside the device reinforce the anniversary theme and give the handheld a distinctive collector-focused appearance.
Beyond the cosmetic changes, the X20 receives some significant hardware upgrades. It is powered by an AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor, paired with 24GB of LPDDR5X-8000 memory and a 1TB M.2 2280 SSD that can be upgraded. An 80Wh battery powers the Windows 11 Home handheld.
One of the biggest additions is ROG’s new 7.4-inch Nebula HDR OLED display. The Full HD 16:9 screen runs at up to 120Hz and supports Dolby Vision, VESA DisplayHDR True Black 1400 and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro with variable refresh rates between 30Hz and 120Hz. It reaches a stated 600 nits of brightness and up to 1,400 nits peak, while Corning Gorilla Glass Victus and an anti-reflection treatment provide additional protection and visibility.
The controls retain Xbox-inspired ergonomics, including impulse triggers, a transforming D-pad, full-size TMR joysticks, HD haptics and two assignable rear buttons. Connectivity includes USB4 with DisplayPort 2.1 and Power Delivery, a second USB-C port, a microSD Express reader and 3.5mm audio jack, alongside Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.4. The handheld weighs 756g.
Turning the Handheld Into a 171-Inch Gaming Screen
The other major part of the Ultimate Bundle is the ROG XREAL R1 Edition 20 Gaming AR Glasses, designed to give players a much larger virtual display while retaining the portability of handheld gaming.
The glasses can create the equivalent of a 171-inch virtual screen viewed from four metres away, with a 57-degree field of view covering 95 per cent of the focused field of view. Sony micro-OLED panels provide 1920 x 1080 resolution per eye and support refresh rates of 120Hz or up to 240Hz with Frame Rate Boost enabled. Response time is rated at 0.01ms.
Native three-degrees-of-freedom tracking allows the virtual screen to respond to head movements, while Anchor Mode can keep the display fixed in position. The glasses also offer three levels of electrochromic dimming, automatic transparency in Anchor Mode and audio tuned by Bose.
Setup is relatively straightforward, with the AR glasses connecting directly to the Xbox Ally X20 through a single USB-C cable. ROG has also integrated the glasses with Command Centre, while their black-and-gold treatment visually matches the anniversary handheld.
More Than Just the Handheld and Glasses
ROG is positioning the S$3,599 package as a collector’s bundle rather than simply packaging the handheld with a pair of AR glasses.
The included dbrand Killswitch features a kickstand, ruggedised grips and anniversary-themed black-and-gold detailing. A custom front skin uses a circuit-board pattern based on the Ally X20’s internal design, while the joystick covers carry the ROG logo.
There is also a customised Pelican Protector Case, distinguished by red ROG latches and a 20th-anniversary badge, providing a way to carry the handheld and its accessories together. A 68W charger completes the package.
Singapore Pricing and Availability
The Ultimate Bundle includes the ROG XREAL R1 Edition 20 Gaming AR Glasses, a dbrand Killswitch for ROG Ally X20, a 68-watt adapter, and a custom Pelican Protector Case, and will be available for pre-order from 14th September 2026, exclusively on the ASUS Online Store.
