Described by HP as an industry-first intelligent printing experience, Print AI introduces features designed to make printing more predictable while potentially reducing wasted paper and ink.
Cleaning Up Webpages Before You Print
One of the headline features is Precise Print, which tackles the often frustrating experience of printing content directly from the web.
HP says more than half of print jobs in homes and offices now originate online, including recipes, articles, travel information and how-to guides. Unfortunately, webpages designed to look good on a screen do not necessarily translate neatly onto paper.
Precise Print automatically reformats this content before it reaches the printer, removing unwanted advertisements, correcting awkward spacing and improving image sizing.
The idea is straightforward: instead of manually copying content into another document or repeatedly adjusting print settings, users should be able to get a cleaner and more readable result on their first attempt.
For households that regularly print recipes, school materials or travel itineraries, this could also translate into less wasted paper and ink from unnecessary pages and reprints.
AI Support That Remembers Your Preferences
HP Print AI is not limited to changing what appears on the page. HP is also applying AI to the printer setup and support experience.
The system can guide users through the initial setup process and uses natural-language interactions and contextual awareness when assistance is required.
It can also remember preferences and previous questions, allowing subsequent support to be tailored to the individual user rather than requiring them to repeatedly explain the same problem.
Smarter Scanning for Businesses
HP is bringing similar intelligence to its commercial printing ecosystem through the expanded availability of HP Scan AI Enhanced.
The cloud-based system automatically identifies the type of document being scanned and can extract relevant information according to a business’s requirements. This could reduce the amount of manual data entry involved when processing large quantities of paperwork.
HP cites one retail group operating 300 locations in Italy as an example, reporting an 80% reduction in labour costs after HP Scan AI Enhanced was incorporated into its delivery and inventory workflow.
For small and medium businesses as well as larger enterprises, the attraction is less about making a scanner more sophisticated and more about reducing the administrative work that happens after a document has been scanned.
AI Comes to the Everyday Printer
Unlike some AI features that require entirely new hardware, HP Print AI is already available with a selection of compatible models across the company’s consumer and business printer families.
These include the HP DeskJet 2932, ENVY 6130e and 6530e, Smart Tank 580, 720, 750 and 790, as well as the OfficeJet Pro 8130e, 9120e, 9130e and 9730.
