Samsung Strengthens Removable Storage Lineup with New T7 and T9 microSD Cards

Samsung has expanded its removable storage portfolio with the launch of the new Samsung T7 microSD Card and Samsung T9 microSD Card, designed to cater to users ranging from everyday mobile consumers to gaming enthusiasts and professional creators.

Announced in Singapore on 5 May 2026, the new lineup introduces a simplified naming structure that replaces Samsung’s previous EVO and PRO branding. The move is aimed at helping users more easily identify the right storage solution based on their performance and usage needs.

According to Jacus Long, Head of Brand Memory Business at Samsung Electronics Singapore, the rise of high-definition content, larger file sizes and increasingly demanding applications has created a stronger need for reliable expandable storage across devices.

Samsung T7 microSD Card Targets Everyday Users
The Samsung T7 microSD Card is positioned as an everyday storage solution for light gamers, intermediate content creators and users who regularly store photos, videos, apps and files across multiple devices.

Available in capacities of up to 1TB, the T7 delivers sequential read speeds of up to 170MB/s and supports compatibility across smartphones, tablets, laptops and handheld gaming consoles.

Samsung says the card is designed to provide a dependable and straightforward way for users to expand storage without compromising portability or convenience.

Samsung T9 microSD Card Focuses on Performance.
For users who require faster performance, the Samsung T9 microSD Card is built for more intensive workloads such as professional content creation, high-speed gaming and large file transfers.

The T9 offers sequential read speeds of up to 200MB/s and is designed for demanding devices including drones, action cameras and gaming handhelds. Samsung also highlights its broad compatibility across mobile devices and laptops, making it suitable for creators and users who frequently work across ecosystems.

Both the T7 and T9 cards support UHS-I standards and come with U3, V30, A2 and Class 10 speed ratings, helping ensure smooth performance for high-resolution video recording, gaming and app usage.

Built for Durability Across Different Environments
Samsung has also equipped both new microSD cards with its six-proof durability protection, which includes resistance against water, extreme temperatures, X-rays, magnets, drops and wear.

This added durability is designed to give users greater confidence when using the cards in travel, outdoor filming, gaming and day-to-day mobile scenarios.

Samsung Simplifies Its Storage Portfolio
The launch of the T7 and T9 microSD cards follows Samsung’s broader effort to streamline its removable storage lineup alongside products such as the Samsung P9 Portable SSD.

By replacing the previous EVO and PRO naming conventions with the new T-series branding, Samsung aims to create a clearer distinction between mainstream and performance-focused storage solutions.
