Canon is turning up the dial on video creativity with the launch of three new products designed to meet the evolving demands of content creators: the EOS R50 V mirrorless camera, PowerShot V1 compact camera, and the RF-S14-30mm f/4-6.3 IS STM PZ lens. With a keen focus on video performance, creator-friendly ergonomics, and cinematic features, Canon’s latest innovations aim to support a new generation of storytellers.
Both the EOS R50 V and PowerShot V1 feature lightweight, viewfinder-less bodies optimised for handheld shooting and vlogging. Canon has made key design choices—like repositioned buttons for one-handed control and vertical shooting support—to reduce fatigue and boost efficiency.

The R50 V even includes a dedicated zoom lever compatible with Canon’s new RF-S14-30mm power zoom lens, the brand’s first with built-in servo zoom.
PowerShot V1: Pocket-Sized Power for Creators on the Move
Canon’s first all-in-one video-centric compact camera, the PowerShot V1, packs a punch with a 22.3MP 1.4-inch sensor—roughly twice the size of typical compact camera sensors. Paired with a fast f/2.8-4.5 lens offering a versatile 16-50mm range for stills and 17-52mm for video, it’s ideal for everything from travel vlogs and livestreams to short films.
Features like a built-in cooling fan, 3-stop ND filter, Subject Tracking IS, and Dual Pixel CMOS AF II ensure the camera performs even during long recording sessions or in challenging light. With Full HD recording up to 120p and 4K time-lapse capabilities, it’s a strong alternative to bulkier setups.
RF-S14-30mm f/4-6.3 IS STM PZ: Zoom Power in a Compact Frame
Canon also revealed the RF-S14-30mm f/4-6.3 IS STM PZ, a compact and lightweight lens with built-in power zooming. Designed for smooth, servo-controlled zoom operation, it’s ideal for gimbal use, vertical shooting, and remote content capture. Paired with the R50 V, it supports up to 15 zoom speeds via either a zoom lever or ring and offers up to 5 stops of image stabilisation for stills and 5-axis Movie IS for video.
Its wide-to-telephoto range (22.4mm to 48mm equivalent) and close focusing (0.15m) make it perfect for product showcases and intimate shots, supporting a range of creator content from lifestyle to tutorials.
EOS R50 V: Pro Features in an Accessible Body
The EOS R50 V is an interchangeable lens camera built around a 24.2MP APS-C sensor inspired by Canon’s cinema line. It offers advanced features like Cinema View, 10-bit Canon Log 3, HDR PQ, and HLG recording for creators wanting professional-grade footage. Users can record uncropped 4K at 30p, cropped 4K at 60p, and Full HD at 100/120p with audio—ideal for slow motion.
It also supports 4K 60p live streaming over USB-C and is compatible with the Live Switcher Mobile Multi-Camera app for dynamic live productions. Audio options are just as robust, with 3-mic noise reduction, 24-bit 4-channel LPCM input, and false colour video aids.
The PowerShot V1 will be launched on 1 April 2025 at S$1,399.
The Canon EOS R50 V (body only) will be available from 21 April 2025 at S$899, while the EOS R50 V kit with the RF-S14-30mm f/4-6.3 IS STM PZ lens will retail at S$1,199 on the same date; the RF-S14-30mm lens alone will be priced at S$519 and available from July 2025.
