ECOVACS Deebot X8 Pro Omni the Groundbreaking mopping technology

An evolution in mopping floors with a robot cleaner to finally achieve real clean results.

ECOVACS’ latest robot vacuum cleaners feature a groundbreaking wet mop technology that we are sure will be replicated by close competitors in no time. The DEEBOX X8 Pro Omni puts ECOVACS at the forefront of robot cleaners with its instant self-washing mopping technology, upgraded TruEdge 2.0 and TruEdge 3D Edge Sensor, AIVI 3D 3.0 Omni-Approach Technology, and the OMNI Station that cleans and dries the mop with hot water.

The new X8 Pro Omni incorporates Tineco floor cleaning technology and calls it OZMO ROLLER. Instead of the round mop pads, the OZMO ROLLER system uses a long roller-type mop that constantly rinses with clean water, mops the dirt, wrings and sucks the dirty water. This means that with every inch that the X8 Pro Omni mops, the floor is cleaned with a fresh mop. This is something that other types of mop pads cannot achieve, because these mop pads pick up dirt but continue to clean other parts of the floor until the pads get rinsed manually or at the docking station.

With the new TruEdge 2.0 Adaptive Edge Cleaning, the roller mop scans the edges and corners of the room to determine when to extend and retract. During the review, we observed that the roller mop adjusts constantly on different types of turnings to avoid collisions while remaining close to edges, and we were left impressed. The X8 Pro Omni is also able to apply different heat levels for more effective mop washing – 75-degrees for toilet, 55-degrees for kitchen, and 40-degrees for bedrooms.

The obstacle avoidance technology skillfully navigated around various obstacles placed before them, and quite often it went very close to them, causing a bit of bump for those small items. The X8 Pro Omni seems to be a little less nimble in general when the area has more obstacles. At clear floor areas, the robot cleaner zooms confidently.

What I love about the X8 Pro Omni is its zero-tangle brush, leaving no hair accumulation that causes the bristles to be deformed over time. It eliminates the only thing left for regular maintenance. Thanks to the upgraded Omni Station, the X8 Pro Omni can operate for up to 150 days without requiring any cleaning. It supports auto-empty, hot water mop washing, hot air drying. The Station is also rather compact, the water tanks exposed so it is easier to see the water level and remove the tanks for top-ups. The water tank cover hinge prevents it from slamming down.

And if you love to use voice assistants at home, then you can use your voice to command the X8 Pro Omni to do your bidding. There are dozens of commands that you can use, which is more convenient than digging through the app to activate. For the rest of us, voice assistance can be disabled.

The ECOVACS Home app offers an overview of the X8 Pro Omni health and operation statuses. After mapping your home, you can name the rooms, select the cleaning modes, suction power, water flow rate, and cleaning speed. If Intelligent Hosting is enabled, the robot vacuum will intelligently decide the cleaning parameters based on the room floor materials, the cleaning data gathered. With live video mode, it is possible to use the X8 Pro Omni as a patrol, directing it to any place you want in the house, and make a voice call.

We noticed a few missing features that other robot cleaners have. First, the floor mapping does not show the obstacle that the robot encountered during cleaning. Also, the app cannot support mopping-only cleaning programmes.

A robot vacuum cleaner with advanced mopping capabilities that can mop the floor cleanly, plus other intelligent features and a self-sustaining station to make the X8 Pro Omni maintenance-free for the busy homeowners.
