Louis Erard is no stranger to classical watchmaking, often drawing inspiration from the 19th century. This venture signifies that watches serve as not just time-telling instruments but also as tools of expression, akin to a wrist diary where mechanical tales unfold.
This isn’t the inaugural partnership between Louis Erard and Massena LAB either. After their renowned creation, Le Régulateur, which earned a nomination at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève, their combined efforts have now centred on the mono-pusher chronograph. This technique, utilizing a single pusher for initiating, halting, and resetting the chronograph, is conveyed with striking simplicity by Louis Erard, highlighted by a solitary 30-minute totalizer placed at noon.
Founded during the challenging times of 1929’s Great Depression, Louis Erard has adopted “Together we are stronger” as its guiding principle. This isn’t mere rhetoric; the brand, through its various collaborations, has been a beacon of excellence in design and finishing. The monopusher chronograph showcases these attributes: from its rhodium-plated exterior to intricate detailing and finishes, complemented by both the Louis Erard emblem and Massena logo at six o’clock. Given that such finesse requires handcrafting, mass production is not an option.
This joint endeavour, dubbed the Louis Erard x Massena LAB Le Chronographe Monopoussoir, is available in a restricted series of 178 units, embodying their motto, “Together we are stronger”. The watch comes in two versions: with a rhodium-plated or gilded dial.
William Massena posits that for collaborations to truly shine, they must resonate with authenticity and purpose. With this ethos, watch enthusiasts can undoubtedly anticipate more captivating creations in the future.
Louis Erard x Massena LAB Le Chronographe Monopoussoir is a limited series of 178 pieces and retails for SGD 6,660 with tax each.
