One Camera, Every Adventure: Sony Unveils the AI-Powered RX10 V

Sony has unveiled the RX10 V, the fifth-generation model in its acclaimed RX10 series, combining an expansive 24-600mm ZEISS® Vario-Sonnar T* lens with the latest AI-powered autofocus and high-speed imaging technologies. Designed for enthusiasts who want the flexibility of a single-camera solution, the RX10 V delivers professional-grade performance across a wide range of shooting scenarios, from family outings and travel to wildlife and sporting events.

Featuring a large-aperture 24-600mm F2.4-4.0 (25x optical zoom) lens, the RX10 V eliminates the need to carry multiple lenses while maintaining excellent image quality throughout its zoom range. Powered by Sony’s 1.0-type stacked Exmor RS™ CMOS sensor with approximately 20.1 effective megapixels and the latest BIONZ XR™ image processor, the camera captures richly detailed stills and supports 4K 120p video recording, giving creators the flexibility to shoot everything from fast-paced action to cinematic slow-motion footage.

The latest model also introduces AI-powered Real-time Recognition AF, enabling highly accurate subject detection and tracking for people, animals, birds, insects, vehicles and more. Combined with blackout-free continuous shooting at up to 30 frames per second with full AF/AE tracking, photographers can confidently capture fleeting moments without missing the action.

To further enhance usability, the RX10 V adopts Sony’s Alpha-series inspired ergonomic design, featuring a refined grip, intuitive button layout and a new Quad-VGA OLED electronic viewfinder for clearer composition in both bright outdoor and indoor environments. Battery life has also been significantly improved, with the NP-FZ100 Z-series battery delivering up to approximately 630 still images per charge, representing an improvement of more than 50% over its predecessor.

Powerful imaging across every focal length
The integrated ZEISS® Vario-Sonnar T* lens covers focal lengths from 24mm wide-angle to 600mm super-telephoto, making it suitable for landscapes, portraits, wildlife and sports photography without changing lenses.

Macro photography is equally versatile, allowing close-up shooting from approximately 3cm at 24mm and tele-macro shooting from around 72cm at 600mm.

Sony’s BIONZ XR™ processor produces high-resolution images with reduced noise across a wide ISO range, preserving natural colours, fine textures and accurate skin tones even in challenging lighting conditions.

Photographers can also personalise their images using 12 Creative Look presets, while the enhanced Dynamic Range Optimiser (DRO) helps preserve highlight and shadow detail for more balanced, natural-looking images, particularly in backlit scenes.

AI autofocus built for fast-moving subjects
At the heart of the RX10 V is Sony’s latest AI processing unit, enabling Real-time Recognition AF capable of recognising a broad range of subjects, including humans, animals, birds, insects, cars, trains and aircraft. Auto mode intelligently identifies subject types automatically, while AI-powered human pose estimation ensures reliable tracking even when faces are partially hidden or turned away.

Users can simply tap their chosen subject to activate Real-time Tracking, allowing the camera to continuously follow movement while the photographer focuses on framing the perfect composition.

Performance is equally impressive, with autofocus and auto exposure calculations performed up to 60 times per second, ensuring precise tracking during high-speed bursts. Blackout-free shooting at up to 30fps enables photographers to capture unpredictable wildlife encounters and sporting moments with confidence, while the Continuous Shooting Speed Boost function allows burst speed adjustments on the fly.

Advanced video capabilities for creators
The RX10 V is equally capable as a video camera, supporting 4K recording at up to 120fps, enabling smooth slow-motion footage while maintaining ultra-high resolution.

Sony’s Active Mode image stabilisation helps produce stable handheld footage, while the Multi Interface Shoe supports compatible digital microphones for cleaner, higher-quality audio recording.

AI-powered Auto Framing automatically keeps subjects centred during recording, making solo filming and content creation easier. The camera also includes Sony’s S-Cinetone™ colour profile for cinematic footage, S-Log3 for advanced colour grading workflows, support for importing up to 16 user LUTs, plus useful creative tools including Time-lapse shooting and Shot Mark for extracting still images from video.

Built for comfort, durability and seamless connectivity
The RX10 V introduces a larger 0.5-type Quad-VGA OLED electronic viewfinder with approximately 3.68 million dots and 0.78x magnification, delivering a bright, detailed view for accurate composition. A higher-resolution 3.0-inch LCD monitor with approximately 1.62 million dots further improves visibility when shooting from different angles.

Drawing inspiration from Sony’s Alpha mirrorless cameras, the RX10 V features a redesigned grip, intuitive control layout and a responsive multi-selector for smooth eight-direction navigation.

Built to withstand demanding environments, the camera incorporates a dust- and moisture-resistant design, alongside dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4GHz and 5GHz) for reliable wireless transfers. USB Type-C connectivity enables high-speed data transfer and supports 4K 30p live streaming.

The RX10 V also supports Sony’s Creators’ App, allowing users to transfer files directly to smartphones or cloud storage, remotely control the camera and receive firmware updates for added convenience.
