nubia is pushing the boundaries of mobile gaming with the new nubia Neo 5 Max, a device that blends the expansive screen of a compact tablet with the portability and controls of a gaming smartphone. Positioned as a new “PadPhone” category, the device combines a large 7.5-inch display, console-inspired controls, immersive audio, advanced cooling and AI-powered gaming tools in a single package.

The nubia Neo 5 Max is designed to be more than a gaming phone. It doubles as a portable entertainment hub and productivity device, giving users a larger canvas for games, movies, reading and multitasking without moving up to a traditional tablet.
A Bigger Screen Built for Gaming and Entertainment
At the heart of the Neo 5 Max is a 7.5-inch 1.5K display, offering 27% more visible screen area than the nubia Neo 5 5G. Its 18.7:9 aspect ratio is designed to strike a balance between immersive visuals and comfortable gaming controls, while nubia says the larger display can make enemy outlines up to 40% larger in FPS titles.

The display also carries SGS-certified hardware-level eye-care certification for full-scene low blue light and true DC dimming. Software-based eye-care features and smart usage reminders are included to help reduce eye strain during longer sessions.
The large screen can adapt to different scenarios through several display modes. Landscape Mode, paired with a protective case stand, turns the Neo 5 Max into a compact personal TV, while E-Ink Mode provides a more reading-friendly viewing experience. Controller and Streaming Modes are designed for low-latency game casting, while Floating Window and Split-Screen Modes make multitasking easier.
Console-Inspired Controls in a Phone-Sized Package
Gaming controls are another major focus of the Neo 5 Max. Its Neo Triggers 5.0 feature a 990Hz sampling rate and hardware response latency as low as 4.7ms, allowing players to react quickly when aiming, firing, moving or activating abilities.

The controls are designed around a C-grip holding position and make use of the phone’s larger display to provide a 27% wider touch area and 21% greater key spacing compared with conventional layouts. Magic Touch 3.0 is also designed to reduce accidental inputs caused by wet or oily fingers, while a high-precision gyroscope provides additional motion control.
Connectivity is supported by a 360-degree Game Antenna, while dual symmetrical speakers deliver up to 300% louder volume. Dolby Atmos adds a more immersive soundstage for games, movies and music, complemented by a Z-axis linear motor for tactile feedback and RGB Eagle Eye lighting for added gaming flair.
Built for Long Gaming Sessions
Under the hood, the nubia Neo 5 Max is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7100 6nm chipset, paired with LPDDR5X memory and UFS 2.2 storage. nubia’s NeoTurbo Engine works alongside the hardware to optimise performance, frame rates and power efficiency during demanding gaming sessions.

Keeping temperatures under control is a 30,000mm²+ cooling system. The thermal architecture combines a dual-layer capillary vapour chamber with a 3D-stamped VC panel to improve heat dissipation efficiency by 140%, helping the phone maintain performance during extended gameplay.
The phone also comes with AI Game Space 5.0, which provides quick access to gaming tools and intelligent features. Its AI Copilot Demi 2.0 takes on the role of a virtual gaming companion, providing real-time guidance, battle updates and other game-related assistance.
7,100mAh Battery for Marathon Gaming
Powering the Neo 5 Max is a 7,100mAh dual-cell battery, designed to distribute power more efficiently while helping manage heat and long-term battery reliability.

For gaming sessions, Bypass Charging can supply power directly to the device rather than continuously charging the battery, helping reduce additional heat. Even when the battery drops to 5%, the phone’s 5% Extreme Mode can provide up to 22.9 minutes of additional gaming, according to nubia.
Availability and Configurations
The nubia Neo 5 Max is making its global debut with Southeast Asia as the first market. It will be offered in Shadow Black, Titanium Gold and Cyber Silver.
Memory and storage configurations include 20GB RAM (8GB physical + 12GB virtual RAM) with either 256GB or 512GB of storage.
With its oversized display, gaming-focused controls, immersive audio, substantial cooling system and AI-powered features, the nubia Neo 5 Max takes a different approach to the gaming smartphone.
Rather than simply making a phone more powerful, nubia is positioning the device as a portable gaming, entertainment and productivity hub that sits somewhere between a smartphone, handheld console and compact tablet.
The nubia Neo 5 Max was announced for a Southeast Asian regional rollout in August 2026, but an official local launch date or direct retail availability in Singapore has not yet been announced by ZTE or nubia.
