With Singapore facing periods of warmer and drier weather, keeping the home comfortable could mean relying more heavily on air conditioners, refrigerators and laundry appliances. Samsung is highlighting how its Bespoke AI home appliance ecosystem can help households adapt while keeping an eye on energy consumption.

Connected through SmartThings, Samsung’s range combines AI-powered automation with energy monitoring, allowing homeowners to manage appliances remotely, optimise their usage and create routines according to changing household needs.

Smarter Cooling for Hotter Days
At the centre of Samsung’s cooling proposition is the Bespoke AI WindFree Air Conditioner, which combines rapid cooling with intelligent temperature management.

Fast Cooling Mode can cool a room up to 43% faster, while AI Auto Cooling automatically selects the appropriate operating mode to maintain comfortable indoor conditions. Through SmartThings, users can also activate Welcome Cooling remotely, allowing the air conditioner to start cooling the home before they arrive.

During hazy periods, its 4-in-1 Filter is designed to collect PM2.5 dust and fine particles, helping households maintain cleaner indoor air without having to open their windows.

Energy efficiency becomes particularly important when air conditioners are running for longer periods. The Bespoke AI WindFree Air Conditioner carries a 5-tick energy efficiency rating under Singapore’s Mandatory Energy Label Scheme, while SmartThings AI Energy Mode can analyse usage patterns and surrounding conditions to reduce energy consumption by up to 28%.

Samsung estimates this could translate into savings of up to S$1,900 over five years, depending on usage conditions.

Keeping Food Fresh When Temperatures Rise
Hot weather also places greater emphasis on reliable refrigeration, particularly for keeping groceries fresh and having chilled drinks readily available.

Samsung refrigerators equipped with All-Around Cooling distribute cold air throughout different compartments to maintain a more consistent temperature. Power Cool, meanwhile, can rapidly chill newly added groceries and beverages.

Selected French Door models add a Beverage Centre and Auto Ice Maker, providing convenient access to chilled filtered water and ice.

Samsung is also bringing more intelligence to the refrigerator itself. The 615L Bespoke AI Side-by-Side Refrigerator Family Hub features an AI Home screen, which can serve as a central interface for monitoring energy consumption, changing refrigerator settings and controlling compatible connected appliances.

Its AI Energy Mode can reduce refrigerator energy consumption by up to 10%, providing another way for households to manage electricity usage during periods when appliances may be working harder.

Taking the Guesswork Out of Laundry
Warmer and hazier conditions can also change laundry habits. Clothes may need to be washed more frequently, while poor outdoor conditions can make drying laundry outside less desirable.

Samsung’s Bespoke AI Front-load Washer uses AI Wash to automatically adjust water, detergent and washing settings according to each load. Hygiene Steam is designed to tackle ingrained grime while eliminating 99.9% of bacteria and inactivating allergens that may be trapped in fabrics.

AI Ecobubble goes a step further by detecting fabric type and adjusting factors including bubbles, washing time, temperature and spin speed. Samsung says the technology can save up to 70% in energy while providing 45.5% better fabric care.

For drying, the Bespoke AI Heatpump Dryer provides an indoor alternative when haze or humidity makes outdoor drying impractical. Its AI Energy Mode can reduce energy consumption by up to 20%, while the Hygiene Care cycle uses high temperatures during drying to eliminate 99.9% of bacteria from suitable items such as linen and soft toys.

Bringing the Connected Home Together
Rather than operating each appliance independently, SmartThings brings compatible Samsung devices together within one connected ecosystem.

Users can monitor and control their appliances remotely, create personalised routines and track energy consumption across daily, weekly and monthly periods. By analysing usage patterns, the platform can also provide insights that help households better understand where their electricity is being used.

As hotter conditions potentially lead to increased appliance use, this combination of automation and visibility could become increasingly useful for households trying to balance comfort with utility costs.
