Garmin Singapore has announced the new Garmin Forerunner 70 and Garmin Forerunner 170, two new GPS running smartwatches designed to help new and aspiring runners start and improve their running journey with easy-to-use training tools and health features.

Announced on 18 May 2026, both smartwatches feature vibrant 1.2-inch AMOLED displays, responsive touchscreens and Garmin’s traditional five-button control layout for easier navigation during workouts. Garmin says the watches are built to provide runners with premium training features, everyday wellness tracking and long battery life without requiring nightly charging.

The Garmin Forerunner 70 focuses on delivering the essential tools runners need to train effectively. The watch includes built-in GPS, wrist-based heart rate tracking, pace monitoring and distance tracking. Garmin has also introduced new quick workout features that generate personalised workout suggestions based on a runner’s fitness level, desired workout duration and intensity preferences.

The smartwatch also supports Garmin Coach, which provides adaptive training plans that adjust daily according to health and recovery data. Garmin says the updated plans now include lower-volume programmes and run/walk workout options, making the training system more accessible for newer runners.

Daily suggested workouts are also included, automatically adapting after each run based on user performance and recovery metrics. Beyond running, the Forerunner 70 supports more than 80 sports apps covering activities such as cycling, swimming and strength training.
Garmin additionally equipped the watch with several health and wellness features, including:
● Advanced sleep tracking
● Sleep Coach
● Heart rate variability (HRV) monitoring
● Pulse Ox
● Breathing variation tracking
● Health Status monitoring
The Forerunner 70 also supports smart notifications, safety tracking features and LiveTrack functionality.
Garmin says the watch delivers up to 13 days of battery life in smartwatch mode and will be available in multiple colour options, including citron, soft pink, tidal blue, cool lavender, black and whitestone.

Building upon the Forerunner 70, the Garmin Forerunner 170 introduces additional lifestyle and convenience features aimed at runners who want more functionality during everyday use and training.
One of the major additions is support for Garmin Pay, allowing users to make contactless payments directly from their wrist using supported banks and payment networks.

For music lovers, the Garmin Forerunner 170 Music version enables users to download songs, playlists and podcasts from supported music streaming services for phone-free listening through wireless headphones.
The Forerunner 170 series offers up to 10 days of battery life in smartwatch mode. Colour options include black with amp yellow accents and whitestone with cloud blue accents, while the Music edition also introduces brighter options such as teal green and red pink.
The Garmin Forerunner 70 will retail in Singapore for S$349, while the Garmin Forerunner 170 will retail for S$419. The Garmin Forerunner 170 Music will be priced at S$479.
The watches will also be available at Garmin Brand Stores, Lazada, Shopee, Garmin Online Store, Takashimaya and selected authorised retailers.
