To commemorate the 30th anniversary of the LANGE 1, one of the most iconic and defining timepieces in haute horlogerie, A. Lange & Söhne was thrilled to present a special exhibition at ION Atrium, Singapore, from October 24 to 29, 2024.
The exhibition, titled “30 Years of the LANGE 1,” offered a deep dive into the legacy, evolution, and enduring craftsmanship of the LANGE 1, a watch that has been synonymous with precision and innovation since its debut.
Unveiled in 1994, the LANGE 1 marked A. Lange & Söhne’s revival after over 40 years of dormancy, reintroducing the Saxon brand to the world of fine watchmaking. Known for its distinctive asymmetrical dial and outsize date display, the LANGE 1 quickly set itself apart and became a cornerstone of the brand’s lineup.
Showcasing the Evolution of a Timeless Design
Visitors to the exhibition will have the unique opportunity to view an exclusive collection of LANGE 1 models, each representing key moments in the design’s journey:
● The Original LANGE 1 (1994): This pivotal piece reestablished A. Lange & Söhne’s presence and set the enduring design language that has characterized the LANGE 1 family for three decades.
● LANGE 1 “Luminous” in White Gold: With a black dial and luminous markers, this model adds a bold, modern twist to the classic LANGE 1 design.
● 25th Anniversary Collection: The 2019 anniversary series celebrates the LANGE 1 with ten models crafted in white gold and accented in blue.
Highlights include the “25th Anniversary” model with a hand-engraved hinged cuvette, the GRAND LANGE 1 Moonphase “25th Anniversary” with a celestial moonphase complication, and the LANGE 1 Tourbillon “25th Anniversary” with a sophisticated tourbillon.
A Glimpse into Saxon Craftsmanship
A highlight of the event will be live demonstrations from a master engraver from A. Lange & Söhne’s Glashütte manufacture, showcasing the intricate hand engraving that graces each timepiece.
From the meticulous detailing on the balance cocks to case back engravings, these demonstrations highlight the artistry that defines each A. Lange & Söhne creation, making each LANGE 1 truly one-of-a-kind.
With this exhibition, A. Lange & Söhne celebrates not only the legacy of LANGE 1 but also the innovation and craftsmanship that have made it a symbol of enduring excellence in watchmaking.
