When I first thought about gaming on the new MacBook Air 15-inch with the M3 chip, I was unsure about how well it would handle gaming. Now, two months in, I can confidently say that Apple has truly outdone itself. As an avid gamer, I’ve tested this machine with some of my favourite games, and I must say, it fared well.

The M3 chip is an absolute beast. It’s built using cutting-edge 3-nanometer technology, featuring an 8-core CPU and up to a 10-core GPU. This combination makes the MacBook Air up to 60% faster than the previous M1 model and up to 13 times faster than the fastest Intel-based MacBook Air. I immediately noticed the difference when playing Asphalt 9: Legends. The game ran smoothly, with stunning graphics and no lag, even during intense races. The enhanced performance ensured that every frame was crisp, and every movement was fluid, making the gaming experience incredibly immersive.

One of the most impressive features of the new MacBook Air is its support for hardware-accelerated mesh shading and ray tracing. These technologies significantly enhance the visual experience, providing more accurate lighting, reflections, and shadows. In Code of War, the realistic lighting and detailed environments made shooting so immersive. It added a layer of realism that I hadn’t experienced before on a MacBook Air.

Battery life has always been a concern for gamers, but the MacBook Air addresses this with up to 18 hours of battery life. This extended battery life allowed me to have marathon gaming sessions without constantly worrying about running out of power. Playing Football League 2024 was a breeze; I could manage my team, play matches, and even enjoy some post-game highlights without needing to recharge. The M3 chip’s power efficiency truly shines here, making it possible to enjoy hours of uninterrupted gameplay.
With Wi-Fi 6E, my download speeds were incredibly fast, ensuring that online gaming sessions were smooth and lag-free. Additionally, MacOS Sonoma brings several new features that enhance the gaming experience. The new Game Mode optimizes system resources for gaming, reducing latency and increasing frame rates.
The latest MacBook Air 15-inch with the M3 chip has exceeded my expectations in every way. Its combination of powerful performance, stunning graphics, all-day battery life, and enhanced connectivity also allows me to catch a breather by playing games while being productive.
