In an era where hybrid or work-from-home arrangements are a norm, the quest for speed and reliable connectivity remains crucial. Dealing with a multitude of high-resolution files, and needing to constantly upload large photos and documents, having that seamless experience is a blessing. This week, NetGear was kind enough to loan me their new NETGEAR Orbi WiFi 7 (2 Pack) to fast-track that experience for me.
First, let’s talk about setting up the NETGEAR Orbi Wifi 7. In the package, the NETGEAR Orbi Wifi 7 does come with an instruction manual to kick-start your set-up process. My opinion here is it should be manageable for the average person without needing assistance. Following the manual was easy plus the guidance from the app was helpful and I was able to set the router up in 2 locations. One on the first-floor living room and the other on the second floor where my family resides and works.
Before setting up the NETGEAR Orbi WiFi 7, my WiFi setup was all on the second floor where my parents had the main router in their room and a repeater by the stairs. With this setup, there are locations where WiFi tends to be unreliable and chunky.
Uncommon to most families, my whole family works from home so that means 4 people must have a strong and reliable connection during working hours. Not only that, my sibling also works as a photography creative whose day-to-day is uploading content from her camera, editing photos on Adobe Lightroom and editing videos on Adobe Premiere Pro. There have been times when connection has faltered and affected our daily work.
After setting up the NETGEAR Orbi WiFi 7, it was time to test if the claims were true. The NETGEAR Orbi Wifi 7 (2 pack) can provide whole-home WiFi with speeds up to 27 Gbps and 360-degree coverage spanning up to 6,600 square feet. With a 2 pack, my home was more than equipped with strong WiFi.
During the week I used it, there were no signs of faltering or slow speeds that could have hindered my work progress. It was exciting to see my computer being able to quickly upload articles and photos to the website and being able to access downloadable documents faster. My sibling, whose creative work consumes more WiFi and data than me to do her day-to-day tasks, even commented to me on the increase in speed from our previous setup.
This is due to the NETGEAR Orbi WiFI 7 using cutting-edge WiFi 7 technology which outpaces WiFi 6 by 2.4 times, ensuring fast connectivity across multiple devices simultaneously. We are looking at combined WiFi speeds of up to 27Gbps. Outside of work, from gaming to streaming new Netflix Dramas like The Atypical Family, we were able to seamlessly enjoy our leisure activities with little to no downtime.
Another thing to mention was that with my previous setup, it was hard to get connected by the backyard or on the 3rd floor where I work sometimes. Thankfully with the NetGear Orbi Wifi 7, I was able to stay connected smoothly despite the proximity to the routers.
On top of the WiFi 7 routers, the Orbi App was a great addition. With intuitive network management features, I could effortlessly monitor connected devices, check network status, and implement parental controls if needed from the convenience of my smartphone. Furthermore, automatic firmware updates keep the system current with the latest features and security patches, ensuring a reliable and secure network experience.
With remote access capabilities, users can manage their Orbi WiFi system from anywhere, providing unmatched convenience and peace of mind. Also, if you are someone who often has guests over, you can create separate WiFi networks via the app for guests to ensure secure access to your home devices.
In an age where cybersecurity threats loom large, the Orbi 970 Series comes equipped with NETGEAR ArmorTM Powered by Bitdefender®. This way users like myself can breathe a sigh of relief fretting over potential malicious attacks and unauthorized access. With Armor standing guard, your connected devices are shielded from external threats, ensuring peace of mind in an increasingly interconnected world.
Overall, the NETGEAR Orbi Wifi 7 is an excellent addition or replacement to your current network setup if you are regularly plagued with slow disjointed wifi or if you constantly need high performance at work or leisure. This brought only joy to myself and my family when using and testing it out.
The NETGEAR Orbi Wifi 7 2 pack which can cover up to 6,600 sq ft is now available at $2,799 while the NETGEAR Orbi Wifi 7 3 pack which can cover up to 10,000 sq ft for $3,799.
If you need more than 3, there is also the option to purchase additional coverage of 3,300 sq ft for $1,499.
