Power-Packed Performance with Ryzen 8000 F-series processors

AMD has officially unveiled the Ryzen 8000 F-series processors, featuring the Ryzen 7 8700F and Ryzen 5 8400F.

The Ryzen 8000 F-series processors are based on AMD’s existing Phoenix APU silicon, produced using TSMC’s 4nm process. These chips retain the Zen 4 execution cores but lack the integrated RDNA 3 graphics engine found in the Ryzen 8000G counterparts. This approach is similar to Intel’s F-series models, which disable the integrated GPU to offer lower-priced options. Consequently, the Ryzen 7 8700F and Ryzen 5 8400F must be paired with a discrete graphics card. Additionally, AMD has disabled the Ryzen AI NPU on the Ryzen 5 8400F, while the Ryzen 7 8700F still features the NPU with 16 TOPS of AI performance.

The core and cache configurations of the Ryzen 8000 F-series remain unchanged from the G-series. The Ryzen 7 8700F maintains an octa-core, 16-thread setup with 16MB of L3 cache, similar to the Ryzen 7 8700G. The Ryzen 5 8400F has a hexa-core, 12-thread layout with 16MB of L3 cache, like the Ryzen 5 8600G. Both processors are 65W models and include AMD’s Wraith Stealth CPU cooler.

Besides the absence of an iGPU, the difference in clock speeds sets the F-series apart from the G-series. The Ryzen 7 8700F has a 100 MHz lower base and boost clock than the Ryzen 7 8700G. The Ryzen 5 8400F also clocks 100 MHz less than the Ryzen 5 8600G. However, there’s a significant gap regarding the boost clocks as the Ryzen 5 8400F exhibits a 300 MHz slower boost.

AMD has provided performance charts comparing the Ryzen 7 8700F and Ryzen 5 8400F to their competitors. According to AMD, the Ryzen 7 8700F delivers 12% to 24% higher gaming performance and 10% to 22% higher application performance than the Intel Core i5-14400F. The Ryzen 5 8400F reportedly outperforms the Core i5-13400F in gaming by 1% to 14%.

In addition to the new F-series processors, AMD continues to push the boundaries of processor technology. Their top-end Ryzen 7000X3D series processors, featuring AMD’s exclusive 3D V-Cache™ technology, offer up to 144MB of on-chip memory. This massive cache provides a significant boost in gaming performance, allowing enthusiasts to enjoy unparalleled gaming and creator performance in one chip.

The latest AMD Ryzen G-Series processors feature best-in-class integrated graphics, enabling high-definition gaming without the need for a separate graphics card. This makes it easier and more affordable to get started with high-quality gaming, with the option to add a high-performance graphics card later.

AMD Ryzen processors excel in professional tasks, from working in Microsoft Office and exporting video files to 3D architectural visualization. They offer premium features like PCIe® 5.0 storage support, ultra-fast Wi-Fi® 6E, AMD EXPO™ technology, up to 32 processing threads, and dedicated video accelerators, enhancing productivity and efficiency.

AMD has long been at the forefront of AI technology, and the Ryzen processors bring this power to your PC. With AMD Ryzen AI, users can experience advanced AI capabilities, unlocking new and innovative uses for personal and professional tasks.

Investing in AMD’s latest desktop platform ensures longevity and upgradability. The Socket AM5 platform supports state-of-the-art technologies like DDR5 memory, PCIe® 5.0, and AMD EXPO one-touch memory overclocking. AMD has committed to supporting this platform for years, ensuring you can upgrade to future processors.

AMD Ryzen 7000 series processors also offer up to 49% more performance at the same power level compared to the previous generation. With Eco-Mode and new low-power 65W models, these processors provide efficient and powerful computing options. They come unlocked for overclocking, allowing users to tweak and tune performance through Precision Boost Overdrive or manually with the AMD Ryzen Master utility. AMD EXPO overclocked memory further enhances gaming performance.

The new AMD Ryzen 8000 F-series processors add more variety and options for consumers, offering powerful performance without integrated graphics. With the inclusion of advanced features and future-proofing capabilities, AMD continues to lead in providing cutting-edge technology for gaming, professional use, and AI processing.
