From their initiation in 2021, TAG Heuer and Porsche’s partnership, rooted in mutual values of innovation, quality, and prestige, has thrived. Now, they unveil the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronosprint x Porsche in two distinctive versions, celebrating the 60th anniversary of both the TAG Heuer Carrera collection and the iconic Porsche 911.
Designed by blending elements from the watch and the car, these timepieces promise an unmatched timekeeping journey. The integration mirrors the Porsche 901’s significant acceleration feat of 0-100 km/h in just 9.1 seconds.
Introduced in 1963, the Porsche 911 has been an emblem of engineering perfection and unparalleled performance. The same year, Jack Heuer presented the Heuer Carrera, named after the Carrera Panamericana race, which was characterized by its clean and focused design. Fast forward to 2023, TAG Heuer acknowledges Porsche’s superior speed accomplishments and brings forth the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronosprint x Porsche watches. Both Steel and Gold Editions commemorate the Porsche 911’s iconic performance while integrating TAG Heuer’s dedication to excellence.
To commemorate speed and precision, TAG Heuer has introduced the TH20-08 movement, which emulates the Porsche 901’s 0 to 100 km/h acceleration in 9.1 seconds. The movement showcases an innovative mechanism with twin snail-shaped wheels, created using cutting-edge LiGA technology.
Both timepieces, available in steel and gold variants, feature a dial that visually portrays speed and acceleration, with red highlights evoking the Porsche 911’s acceleration achievement. Subtle automotive-inspired elements like the iconic dashboard of 1970s Porsche, the 9 o’clock subdial representing engine limits, and counterhands mimicking car dashboards further enhance the design.
In a design first for TAG Heuer Carrera, these watches feature a “double glassbox”, with domed, curved crystal glass, reminiscent of the 1970s hesalite crystal designs. This offers a clear view of the dial and the watch’s complex inner workings.
The watches come with a calfskin leather strap, brown for the gold edition and black for the steel edition, featuring the embossed “911” – a tribute to Porsche. Each edition offers distinct dial colours: shimmering silver for steel and elegant beige for gold. Both are encased in special co-branded TAG Heuer x Porsche packaging.
