Hey guys! For all you students out there, how has the start of the semester been going for you? It’s been super tiring for me! What changed this semester is that I brought along my Huawei Matepad Pro (along with its accessories) to school instead of my laptop. It’s a game-changer — makes me so efficient Before I jump into telling you why watch my unboxing video below to see all the items I brought to school!
HUAWEI MatePad Pro
The main feature is the MatePad Pro. It features a minimalist and symmetrical design and is equipped with a stunning 10.8-inch ultra-wide 2K HUAWEI FullView Display, all packed in an ultra-slim bezel measuring just 4.9mm thin. It is extremely thin and lightweight, compared to the heavy laptop I have been accustomed to in the past semesters. This makes travelling from campus to campus so effortless.
To complement both the HUAWEI MatePad Pro, I use the M-pencil along with it. With 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity, tilt support and a tip made of a unique composite material, it is no wonder it has incredible accuracy, responsiveness and sensitivity. Scribbling down notes is now made simple and all stored in one device which I always carry with me.
As someone who spends more than 12 hours a day staring at a screen, I was glad to hear that the tablet has earned recognised certifications by TUV Rheinland Labs. This means I am exposed to minimal harmful blue light when using the tablet, so I can work with peace of mind. While playing my lecture videos, the sound quality was great. It works with the Harman Kardon-tuned quad-speaker sound system for incredible multimedia experiences.
An Impressive Battery Life
Bringing this tablet to school, I don’t even have to bring a charger along with me! It is more than enough to last me through my 9 am-6 pm days without dying. It has 11 hours of continuous HD video playback or 11 hours of uninterrupted web browsing with just a single charge.
HarmonyOS
As one of the first Huawei devices to feature HarmonyOS, the HUAWEI MatePad Pro and Mate Pad Pro offers an incredibly intuitive experience with an arsenal of tools that are designed to help users maximise productivity.
My favourite mode is the Collaborate Mode, where it enables true cross-platform interactions by enabling users to transfer text, images and documents between connected devices with a simple drag and drop function. This is especially useful when I do my group projects with my friends, and we all tried this function together! Transferring documents was easy and seamless. It saved us so much time and our meetings became more efficient.
The extend mode can turn the MatePad Pro into a second screen for more screen space, and the mirror Mode projects the PC screen onto the MatePad Pro which instantly transform the tablet into a drawing pad for quick sketches and delicate calligraphy works. I enjoy doodling, so it was everything I needed in the palm of my hand.
Smart Magnetic Keyboard
Huawei’s MatePad Pro supports the Smart Magnetic Keyboard which can easily be connected via Bluetooth and be transformed into a portable desktop PC. I love how this looks exactly like my laptop setup, just so many times sleeker. The keyboard was just of the right size, and I like to use it when I need to type fast. The vegan leather keyboard folio features a 1.3mm key travel distance for comfortable typing and the Shift key doubles as a toggle for Huawei Share, providing quick access to the Multi-screen Collaboration feature.
HUAWEI FreeBuds 4
To end off, I completed my whole set-up with the Freebuds 4. When I switch on the noise cancellation, the earbuds automatically detect my ear shape to determine the optimum noise cancellation algorithm. This is especially useful when I am trying to study in common areas which tend to get quite noisy as students gather!
It is also lightweight, weighing only 4.1g per earbud. As we have hybrid lessons now, some seminars are done online. Wearing it for the whole day felt comfortable. A cool feature is that it has a dual device connection. With any other smart device running Android, iOS or Windows, the two devices can be connected to the HUAWEI FreeBuds 4 simultaneously. I can enjoy my favourite music without having to miss any urgent calls.
The HUAWEI MatePad Pro and Freebuds 4 are available at Huawei Experience Stores. HUAWEI’s MatePad Pro Midnight Grey (256GB) retails at S$998. Free gifts include the 2nd Gen M-Pencil (S$148) and Flip Cover (S$58). The Freebuds 4 retails at S$198.
