Instagram’s 1:1 format is hardly new age; it’s actually a classic style of photography. Even though the company’s been trying to work with different sizes in recent years, the square format remains popular. The FUJIFILM instax SP-3 is their first instax printer to use a square format film. This comes as good news for Zyi, who’s always loved the idea of printed photos as mementoes.
“I actually had a Polaroid Instax about four years ago, but as it’s analogue, I found it quite inflexible. So two years back, I bought a Canon Selphy printer instead. I use it mostly to print photos for occasions like birthdays, and I would give them out as mementoes. This is something I have been doing for quite a while. I think people appreciate it more than if you had just sent a picture over Whatsapp as printing involves effort. I quite like the SP-3; it’s very sleek and modern, and it’s quite easy to use. What’s more, it’s portable, and the photos are smaller than regular 3R photos, so it’s much easier to keep in your purse, wallet, or phone cover.” –@heyzyi
