Where design is shaped as much by touch as by sound, Bang & Olufsen closes out its five-part Atelier centenary series with two of its most expressive creations yet: the Beolab 90 Monarch Edition and Beolab 90 Zenith Edition. Following earlier releases like the Titan, Shadow and Mirage Editions, these final iterations reimagine the flagship speaker through a bold interplay of wood, aluminium and finely crafted details, turning material, texture and form into a language of their own.

The Monarch Edition leans into classic Danish design sensibilities, wrapping the Beolab 90 in sculptural rosewood. Angled lamellas sweep around the aluminium body, creating a continuous rhythm that feels almost in motion, while six carefully placed wooden knots anchor the design, one subtly illuminated to add depth.

A solid rosewood ring crowns the speaker, with matching base panels extending the visual flow from top to bottom. The contrast between warm wood tones and ochre aluminium highlights the balance between natural and engineered elements, while semi-transparent fabric panels offer fleeting glimpses of the acoustic drivers beneath. The result feels less like a speaker and more like a piece of living furniture, rooted in craftsmanship but designed to be experienced from every angle.

In contrast, the Zenith Edition takes a more intricate and luminous approach. Thousands of anodised aluminium spheres, spread across six panels, create a shimmering, pearl-like surface that reacts dynamically to light. Subtle mother-of-pearl inlays and a dark, oyster shell-inspired aluminium facemask add layers of refinement, while a circular inlay on the top lid serves as a quiet focal point. Every surface is curved to follow the speaker’s architecture, blending texture with function. The interplay between polished and matte finishes gives the Zenith Edition a constantly shifting presence, making it feel almost alive as lighting conditions change throughout the day.

Together, the Monarch and Zenith Editions complete Bang & Olufsen’s anniversary series, celebrating a century of design and acoustic innovation. While each edition introduces its own material identity, all retain the Beolab 90’s core performance, driven by 18 custom-built drivers and advanced beam-forming technology. Limited to just ten pairs per edition, each set comes with a certificate of authenticity and a matching miniature aluminium sculpture, reinforcing their status as true collector’s pieces.
Following their debut alongside earlier editions at Bang & Olufsen San Francisco Culture Store, the Monarch and Zenith Editions will now take centre stage at the same flagship showroom before embarking on a global tour, offering a rare, up-close look at what might be some of the most artful speakers ever made.
The final, limited-edition Bang & Olufsen Beolab 90 Atelier editions (Monarch and Zenith) are priced at approximately €480,000 to over €500,000 per pair (roughly USD $500,000–$550,000).
