Driven by Sound: Bowers & Wilkins and McLaren Pi8 McLaren Edition Wireless Earbuds

Bowers & Wilkins has again teamed up with luxury automaker McLaren Automotive and the McLaren Formula 1 Team to introduce a fresh take on its flagship wireless earbuds – The Pi8 McLaren Edition.

This exclusive release merges cutting-edge audio technology with McLaren’s unmistakable motorsport design language, offering a product that not only sounds incredible but looks the part too. Dressed in Galvanic Gray and accented with Papaya Orange — a colour scheme deeply associated with McLaren’s racing heritage — the earbuds are crafted to turn heads as much as they please audiophile ears.

Functionally, the Pi8 McLaren Edition retains everything that made the original Pi8 a standout. That includes support for high-resolution audio and Bowers & Wilkins’ proprietary Wireless Audio Retransmission technology, which enhances connectivity and sound quality across a wide range of devices.

The earbuds are designed to deliver an immersive listening experience with premium comfort and craftsmanship, ensuring that users get both performance and luxury in one sleek package.

According to Giles Pocock, Vice President of Brand Marketing at Bowers & Wilkins, the Pi8 McLaren Edition is more than just a rebranded audio product — it’s a celebration of a long-standing collaboration between two icons of performance and design.

“This reimagining of our award-winning earbuds elevates our long-term partnership even further by combining the unmistakable design DNA of McLaren with our industry-leading audio products. We’re excited to see how it’s received by Bowers & Wilkins and McLaren fans alike,” he shared.

The earbuds are the latest product born from a partnership that began in 2015, when Bowers & Wilkins first started integrating its audio expertise into McLaren’s high-performance vehicles. Over the years, this collaboration has expanded from car audio systems to consumer tech and even Formula 1. Today, Bowers & Wilkins is the Official Audio Partner of the McLaren F1 Team, underscoring the depth of this relationship.

This audio alliance has led to impressive innovations, such as the incorporation of Bowers & Wilkins’ Continuum Cone technology in the audio system of McLaren’s newest hypercar, the W1. The same advanced driver material used in Bowers & Wilkins’ top-of-the-line 800 Series Diamond loudspeakers is now embedded in the supercar’s sound system, offering studio-quality audio even at 200 mph.

Priced at $499, the Pi8 McLaren Edition wireless earbuds are positioned as a premium offering for those who want the best of both worlds: the refined acoustics of Bowers & Wilkins and the iconic style and speed of McLaren.
