A camera has become such an important part of a phone ever since Instagram took off. Some use it as a way to #flex their seemingly perfect life, while others use it to capture memories like a diary. For someone who has the memory of a goldfish, I belong to the latter. I just want to document each step of my journey and every chapter of my life. As I got more into the photography scene, I became more fussy about the way my photos look and the quality of my camera. This explains why I was so excited to get my hands on the Huawei Mate 30 Pro, which has gotten so many amazing reviews regarding its camera.
Ever since I’ve had this phone, I’ve planned for hiking dates and zoo dates to test out the camera. However, it never really worked out because of the unpredictable weather. I guess it just wasn’t fated.
A Night to Remember
Eventually, my date and I managed to work something out and finally head out for some alone time. Over the weekend, we made our way to the Esplanade Park and caught the 13th edition of Rockestra, hosted by Justin Misson, featuring local acts like Enigma, Jive Talkin’, SuperSonic, The Common People and The Jukuleles.
Before we get into that, let me slowly walk you through our night, with the unedited photos captured by this amazing camera.
Before the concert, we stopped by the newly refurbished Funan mall for dinner. With all the aesthetic ‘gram photos of this place going around, I was excited to go around and explore the place! The place was filled with so many eye-catching stores, but one that I really wanted to try was Nasty Cookie.
It really was was worth every calorie. The wide lens made it so much easier to capture this photo; a normal camera wasn’t able to capture the entire neon sign board and the cookie!
Shortly after our snack, we decided to settle down at a Taiwanese restaurant, Eventasty, for some beef noodles. Mind you, no edits were done to this photo. I love how the camera auto detects what object it is shooting, whether it’s food, human, stage, or something else. It also instantly changes its functions to adapt to the object being photographed. How convenient!!
We took a slow walk to the Esplanade park from there and continued our night with a beer in our hand, grooving to hits from the 00s’ by Adele, Bruno Mars, Coldplay, Ed Sheeran, Kings of Leon, Lady Gaga, Maroon 5, One Republic, Pitbull and more.
Soaking up the atmosphere, we sang our hearts out to the songs that were played and had such a good time. We were even given bubbles to play with!
During the last set, my date and I decided to join the crowd at the front and danced to the last two songs they were playing. Just as the crowd was at its highest, raving to Bon Jovi’s “It’s My Life”, I whipped out my Mate 30 Pro and snapped a photo of this night – truly a night to remember.
Side note, my date was in love with the wireless reverse charging; that was the only reason he helped me carry my Huawei around the whole night… #boys…
Wait up for my next date to see how this camera holds up in the day!
