Last week, the Singapore Motorshow 2018 had its run, introducing new cars, new technology, and new deals for consumers. Subaru got in on the action as well, and launched its new Subaru Outback and XV, as well as its new EyeSight technology.
EyeSight Driver Assist Technology Brings You Home Safely
One of the most important things when it comes to driving on the road is safety. With Subaru’s new EyeSight technology, you’re one step closer to a fully safe driving experience.
EyeSight is a driving support system that uses a range of functions to assist you, the driver. It uses stereo cameras to identify the surrounding vehicles, obstacles, traffic lanes, and other items. Under the right (or very wrong) circumstances, it will automatically apply the brakes or reduce the throttle, to minimise the risk of a collision.
When equipped with EyeSight, all 2017 Subaru models received the highest possible 2017 rating for front crash prevention by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. This advanced system provides extra awareness, safety, and added confidence every time you step behind the wheel.
Travel In Comfort With The New Subaru Outback
The new Subaru Outback is handsomely rugged, and features enhanced aesthetics and functionalities, so you can go anywhere you like in comfort and style. Whether you’re driving on paved roads or going off the beaten path, the Subaru Outback will take you there.
It comes with a slew of features, like Subaru’s new EyeSight technology, and a STABLEX-Ride system for better steering stability and ride quality. You can find more on the official features page.
The engine is now an improved 2.5-litre Boxer Engine, which comes with a new alternator that improves fuel efficiency. You’d think that this improved engine will be heavier, but due to the change in shape of the alternator, it actually comes with an 8% weight reduction!
Inside, you’ll find new functionalities, like USB ports in the back-center console, and additional microphones to improve voice recognition. The Outback also has a premium infotainment system, with an 8-inch high-resolution screen and smartphone connectivity. It also has access to today’s more popular apps, via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The best part? It comes with voice recognition capabilities that allows for hands-free use. No more having to pull over just to change what’s playing!
In addition to EyeSight, the Outback has been fitted with Steering Responsive Headlights. This allows the headlight beam to move according to the direction the car is being steered in, so you never have to worry about driving blind. Cameras fitted on the lower part of the front grille and side mirror lets you check your surroundings when navigating through tight spaces. Safety is key when on the road, after all.
In addition to the existing line-up of exterior colours, the new Outback comes with some brand new colours for you to choose from:
- Wilderness Green Metallic
- Crimson Red Pearl
- Oak Brown Pearl
Explore Your Boundaries With The New Subaru XV
The new Subaru XV represents the first full model change since its original launch in 2012. This new crossover features a multitude of settings, from urban driving to the great outdoors.
It features Subaru’s Eyesight technology, as well as the revolutionary Subaru Global Platform, which delivers less shake, less body roll, and way more fun. Following from the 1.6-litre variant that was launched last year in July, the Subaru XV is now available in a 2.0-litre Boxer Engine.
This revamped engine is equipped with Direct Injection to deliver more power and fuel economy.
More importantly though, it’s also approximately12kg lighter! The Lineartronic transmission is also 7.8kg lighter than previous models, making for an overall lighter experience. It also has auto-step shift control and a 7-speed manual mode function. This means you get a driving experience that you can really control.
The new Subaru Outback and Subaru XV will be available for at the following Subaru showrooms from 11 January 2018:
- 25 Leng Kee Road
- 19 Lorong 8 Toa Payoh
