Dyson Launches PencilWash: A Slim, Ultra-Light Wet and Dry Cleaner for Modern Homes

Dyson has introduced the new PencilWash, its slimmest and lightest wet and dry cleaner to date, designed to bring effortless manoeuvrability and hygienic cleaning to everyday households. The latest launch reflects the brand’s continued focus on making home appliances smaller, lighter and smarter without compromising performance.

The PencilWash is built for modern urban living, where compact spaces, tight corners and convenience matter more than ever. With a slim design and lightweight construction, Dyson aims to make wet cleaning as simple and intuitive as sweeping with a broom.

A New Approach to Wet Cleaning
At the heart of the PencilWash is a focus on hygiene and ease of use. The cleaner features a pencil-thin handle measuring just 38mm in diameter, making it comfortable to hold and easy to store.

The entire machine weighs only 2.2kg, with just 380g in hand, allowing it to glide naturally across floors with minimal effort.

The design also enables the cleaner to lie flat and reach under low furniture, helping users clean tight spaces and along walls without needing to move heavy items. This is particularly useful in smaller homes and apartments, where space is often limited.

Fresh Water Cleaning for Better Hygiene
Unlike traditional wet and dry cleaners that rely on filters, the Dyson PencilWash uses a filter-free system. This eliminates the risk of dirt build-up, odours and performance drops caused by trapped debris.

Instead, the machine uses a combination of hydration, agitation and extraction technologies to ensure that only fresh water is applied during cleaning. Dirty water and debris are continuously removed from the roller, helping maintain consistent hygiene with every use.

This focus on fresh water cleaning is one of Dyson’s key innovations, addressing a common concern among users who worry about spreading dirt rather than removing it.

Powerful Roller and Precision Hydration
The PencilWash is equipped with a high-density microfibre roller containing thousands of filaments designed to remove both wet spills and dry debris in a single pass. The system works with an eight-point hydration mechanism that delivers a steady flow of clean water across the roller surface.

Users can also choose between two hydration modes depending on the type of mess and floor surface. This flexibility ensures optimal cleaning while maintaining a quick-drying finish.

A single 300ml clean water tank can clean up to 100 square metres of flooring, which is roughly the size of an average four-room apartment in Singapore. The cleaner also offers up to 30 minutes of runtime and includes a swappable battery option for extended cleaning sessions.

Designed for Real Homes
Dyson’s latest cleaner is clearly designed with real-world usage in mind. From quick spill clean-ups to regular floor maintenance, the PencilWash aims to simplify everyday routines.

The ability to clean under furniture, control water usage and maintain hygiene without complicated maintenance makes the device appealing to busy households, pet owners and families.

The launch also highlights Dyson’s continued investment in wet cleaning, an area that is growing rapidly as more consumers shift from traditional mopping to modern floor-care solutions.

Pricing and Availability
The Dyson PencilWash is priced at SGD 499 and will be available in 2nd of March. Dyson is also introducing a probiotic hard floor cleaning solution designed to work with its wet and dry cleaners, offering deeper cleaning while being safe for pets and children.
