ASUS Republic of Gamers Announces ROG XREAL R1 AR Gaming Glasses

ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) today unveiled the ROG XREAL R1, the world’s first 240Hz micro-OLED FHD (1920 × 1080) AR gaming glasses, setting a new benchmark for immersive, large-format gaming on the go. Developed in partnership with XREAL, a global leader in consumer AR technology, the ROG XREAL R1 brings signature ROG performance and visual excellence into a lightweight, wearable spatial display.

Designed to integrate seamlessly across the ROG ecosystem, the ROG XREAL R1 delivers desktop-class visuals and responsiveness in a compact form factor. From high-end PCs to consoles and the ROG Ally handheld, the new AR glasses offer gamers unprecedented flexibility, scale, and immersion — anytime, anywhere. Find out more here.

Seamless compatibility with PCs, consoles, and ROG Ally
The ROG XREAL R1 integrates effortlessly into the ROG ecosystem, offering wide compatibility through the ROG Control Dock, which features DisplayPort™ 1.4 and two HDMI® 2.0 ports. With a single click, users can switch between PCs and consoles, making the glasses a versatile addition to any gaming setup.

For handheld gamers, the R1 connects directly to the ROG Ally via a single USB-C cable, instantly transforming gameplay into a massive virtual display — with no setup required. Full touchscreen controls on the Ally remain accessible, while the built-in X1 spatial co-processing chip allows users to adjust screen size and distance at the press of a button.
Weighing just 91 grams, the ROG XREAL R1 is engineered for comfort and portability, delivering large-screen gaming experiences whether at home or on the move.

Supersmooth visuals with spatial freedom
The ROG XREAL R1 projects an immersive 171-inch virtual screen at 4 meters, with an expanded 57° field of view that covers 95% of the focused viewing area. Combined with an industry-leading 240Hz refresh rate and 3ms motion-to-photon latency, the glasses deliver ultra-smooth, highly responsive visuals with minimal motion blur or jitter.

Using Anchor mode with native 3 Degrees of Freedom (3DoF) tracking, players can place the virtual screen anywhere in their physical environment or keep it centred for a more traditional viewing experience, offering flexibility to suit different play styles and spaces.

Adaptive transparency and immersive audio
Equipped with electrochromic lens technology, the ROG XREAL R1 intelligently adapts to ambient lighting conditions. The lenses automatically become more transparent when the wearer looks away from the anchored screen and tint again when focus returns, ensuring clear visibility of both the virtual display and the surrounding environment. Users can also manually select from three levels of electrochromic dimming to match their preferences, from bright daylight to dimly lit rooms.

To complete the immersive experience, Sound by Bose technology delivers rich, spatial audio with exceptional clarity. From subtle footsteps to distant explosions, sound cues are rendered with precise positioning, enhancing in-game awareness and deepening overall immersion.

Availability and pricing
The ROG XREAL R1 is expected to ship globally in the first half of 2026. To learn more about ASUS products, click here.
