German watchmaker Glashütte Original introduces a striking new expression of feminine watchmaking with the Serenade Luna in “purple velvet.” Launched in December 2025, this latest iteration of the Serenade Luna collection reimagines the mechanical wristwatch as a statement of style, a piece of jewellery, and a work of horological art, equally suited for life’s grand occasions and everyday moments.

Housed in a refined 32.5 mm stainless steel case, the Serenade Luna immediately captivates with its rich violet dial and matching leather strap. The colour, inspired by the Gynura aurantiaca or “velvet plant,” blends deep red and blue tones to create an effect reminiscent of silk and velvet. The result is a hue that feels both calming and mysterious, lending the watch an expressive versatility that transitions effortlessly from business attire to evening wear and casual settings

The jewellery-like character of the Serenade Luna is reinforced by its diamond-set details. A total of 48 brilliant-cut diamonds adorn the bezel, framing a sunray-finished dial crafted in Glashütte Original’s own dial manufactory. Translucent violet lacquer adds depth, while white gold hour appliques set with an additional 20 brilliant-cut diamonds catch the light with every movement of the wrist. At six o’clock, the moon phase display provides a poetic focal point, rendered in white natural mother-of-pearl and dark Tahitian mother-of-pearl, delicately printed with stars to evoke a serene night sky.
Completing the exterior is a violet Louisiana alligator leather strap with a glossy, velvety finish and subtle dégradé effect. The strap echoes the dial’s bold colour while maintaining an elegant balance, ensuring the watch remains refined rather than overpowering.

Beyond its aesthetic appeal, the Serenade Luna is a showcase of mechanical craftsmanship. Powering the watch is the automatic calibre 35-14, entirely handcrafted in Glashütte Original’s ateliers. The movement offers a 60-hour power reserve and operates at a frequency of 4 Hz. A silicon balance spring enhances resistance to temperature fluctuations and magnetic fields, while a sapphire crystal caseback reveals the movement’s meticulous finishing, from the Glashütte three-quarter plate with stripe finish to the blued screws, perlage, and the shell-decorated golden rotor plate reminiscent of a theatre curtain poised before a performance

The new Serenade Luna in purple velvet is available from December 2025 at all Glashütte Original boutiques and authorised retail partners worldwide, offering a refined blend of glamour, craftsmanship, and contemporary femininity grounded in the traditions of German watchmaking.
