Gérald Genta Expands the Gentissima Oursin Collection with Bold 41mm Meteorite Editions

After captivating collectors with its exquisite use of natural materials in 2024, the Gérald Genta Gentissima Oursin collection now enters a new chapter. The Maison unveils two striking 41mm additions, each featuring a vivid meteorite dial in blue or green — a contemporary, more assertive expression of the iconic Oursin form. Designed and assembled entirely in-house by La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton, these new references raise the collection’s aesthetic ambition while retaining the spirit of audacious elegance that defines the Gentissima line.

A Larger Canvas for Bolder Creativity
The new Gentissima Oursin 41 joins the existing six 36.5mm models, expanding the family for those who prefer a stronger wrist presence. Crafted from sandblasted Grade 5 titanium, the round case appears simple at first sight — yet a closer look reveals a discreet octagonal inner profile, a subtle nod to Gérald Genta’s architectural instincts. Surrounding the titanium shell are precisely set white gold beads, 234 in total, forming a tactile, sculptural interplay of shapes and surfaces.

This expressive case houses the collection’s first-ever meteorite dials. Each slice, cut thin from a rare extraterrestrial fragment, reveals a natural crystalline structure that ensures every piece is inherently one-of-one.

Offered in deep blue or rich green, the dial’s hue shifts with light and angle, delivering an organic dynamism while keeping time legible through Super-LumiNova markers and gold hands tinted with a soft pink glow — an homage to Genta’s favourite colour.

Sporty-Chic Utility with Artistic Poise
More than a design object, the Gentissima Oursin 41 balances artistry with practicality. Its lightweight titanium construction, rubber strap and 50m water resistance make it suitable for everyday wear, even for collectors with active lifestyles. A specially developed sapphire crystal, curved externally and faceted into an octagonal shape inside, enhances the dial’s depth while reinforcing the watch’s signature geometry.

“This is a sporty-chic watch,” explains Matthieu Hegi, Artistic Director at La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton. “The sporty aspect is linked to the rubber and titanium, and the chic aspect is linked to the gold accents. It is for the elegant collector who loves design and beautiful things — someone who desires a watch that is different from what is found on the market and is highly identifiable.”

A Vision Born from the Sea
The Oursin’s origins trace back to a quiet moment in 1994, when Mr Gérald Genta discovered a sea urchin while strolling the Corsican shore. Its harmonious balance of fragility and strength inspired him to create a timepiece that mirrored its unique form: rounded, convex, and studded with protective beads. The Oursin later became a favourite of Mrs Evelyne Genta and was reintroduced in 2023 when the Maison relaunched with the support of La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton.

That creative spark — the merging of nature’s geometry with Genta’s playful imagination — continues to shape the modern Gentissima line. In its latest form, the Oursin speaks not just from the sea, but from the stars.

Fine Watchmaking at its Core
Beneath the sculptural exterior lies robust mechanical precision. The 9.84mm-thick case opens to a sapphire display back, revealing the Zenith Elite GG-005 automatic movement. This calibre offers a 50-hour power reserve, a 4 Hz frequency and an 18K yellow gold winding mass — a mechanical pairing that complements the Oursin’s contemporary elegance.

A polished white gold crown set with a cabochon completes the case, reinforcing the refined yet unconventional character of the watch.

A Statement of Taste, Ingenuity and Emotion
The Gentissima Oursin 41 stands at the intersection of sculpture and horology. With its interplay of circular and octagonal geometry, its constellation of white gold beads and its cosmic meteorite dial, the timepiece speaks to collectors who value individuality and emotional resonance as much as mechanical mastery.

It is designed for those who see art not as ornament, but as an essential presence — a companion to be worn, appreciated and lived with.
